Chapter 17 - Bounty

After arriving at the Beastmaster Association, the first thing Ji An did was head to the association's library to return the three books that he had already flipped through no less than three times and taken a lot of notes.

Although the contents of these three books were only general knowledge about beastmasters, but to Ji An, who had never received a systematic education as a beastmaster, the contents were still extremely precious.

At least, it made up for his lack of basic knowledge of familiars to a large extent.

After returning the books, Ji An had originally intended to borrow a few more, but considering that he did not have enough money, he could only give up.

The Beastmaster Association wasn't the only way to obtain knowledge about familiars.

In addition, the price of renting books at the Beastmaster Association wasn't cheap.

Ji An decided that it could wait until his financial crisis was resolved.

The Beastmaster Association was the place where the most beastmasters gathered in Encircle Town.

Not only did this place rank professional beastmasters, but it also provided a place for beastmasters to exchange their training experiences, as well as spar with each other.

At the same time, there were also many bounty missions that were only available to beastmasters.

For example, the crimson blade mantis egg mission that Ji An had personally completed back then was once posted at the Beastmaster Association.

Though, Ji An had completed the mission through the Management Association's bounty department.

After all, he wasn't a beastmaster yet back then, so he couldn't even set foot through the doors of the Beastmaster Association.

This time, Ji An's other objective was to see if there were any bounty missions that he could accept.

As an Entry-level beastmaster, he already had the qualifications to take on some simple missions.

The Beastmaster Association had a wall designated for bounties.

The huge display screen was several meters high and more than ten meters long, where bounties rolled.

Most of the bounties were out of Ji An's capabilities.

Targeted at beastmasters of different levels, bounties were divided into different grades.

From the highest to the lowest, there were D-grade and C-grade bounties for Entry-level and Extraordinary-level beastmasters, respectively.

Other than that, there were the even higher-graded B-grade and A-grade bounties that corresponded to the higher-level beastmasters, namely the Commander-level and Legend-level beastmasters.

Commander-level beastmasters were existences above Extraordinary-level beastmasters.

A beastmaster of this level would be able to tame powerful Sovereign-level familiars. With the Sovereign-level familiars' ability to command Transcendent creatures, the beastmasters naturally had extremely strong control over ordinary Transcendent creatures.

At this level, one could already be considered an expert in familiars, so they were also known as the Expert level.

On the other hand, Legend-level beastmasters that were one level above the Commander level were powerful existences capable of taming Nirvana-level beasts.

Every single one of them was well-known and each had resounding titles. They were fully deserving to be known as the masters in the beast-taming field and were thus known as Master-level beastmasters as well.

Among the four grades of bounties, namely A, B, C, and D, each level was further divided into three smaller grades.

For example, the D grade was further divided into three grades, namely D+, D, and D-.

As such, there were a total of 12 small-grade bounties, divided into 12 rows on the bounty list.

Ji An's gaze was focused on the lowest row of D- grade bounties on the bounty board.

There weren't many of them. After all, a bounty of this grade was simply of a lower class.

Many of such bounties could even be completed by ordinary people, without the need for beastmasters to take action.

The commission for putting up a bounty at the Beastmaster Association wasn't low, either. As a result, few were willing to spend a large sum of money just to put up a D-grade bounty at the Beastmaster Association.

The meager D- grade bounties were all missions that required the help of some familiars' special abilities to complete.

For example, one needed the wind-chasing dog's strong sense of smell to find a lost special item.

Another example was that the help of a wood-type familiar with a skill called Clear Sky was needed, to enhance the photosynthesis of crops on gloomy days.

These missions all required special skills from specific familiars, which made them unfated with Ji An.

Just as he was about to take a look at the more difficult D-grade bounty missions, a D- grade bounty suddenly caught his eye.

This was a bounty for a sparring partner.

As the name suggested, a sparring partner had to accompany another in training.

The mission requirements were very simple. It required a familiar that had completed its second Morphing and could take a beating.

Ji An suddenly felt that the winter bear cub was very suited for the job!

Take a beating?

Wasn't this exactly what the winter bear cub needed?

Never mind the money. What was important was that if he accepted this bounty, he wouldn't have to continue doing the arduous job of swinging the wooden stick just to train the bear cub, right?

Of course, Ji An had to admit that the offer of two thousand yuan for a two-hour sparring session was one of the reasons he was attracted to the bounty.

One sparring session a day, and 2000 per session. With this, wouldn't he be able to get the sweetgrass milk for the winter bear cub?

Moreover, getting beaten up could also train the winter bear cub's Hard Ice!

He could kill two birds with one stone!

In addition, the bounty required a familiar that had undergone its second Morphing. this meant that the beastmaster who put up the bounty couldn't be that strong.

The other party was probably looking for an opponent who was on par with him to train his familiar.

The winter bear cub was thus not in danger of being injured.

Ji An decided after some thought, "Let's do it!"

The bounty list only showed a rough introduction of the bounty missions.

The details of the mission had to be consulted with the staff of the association.

Ji An silently memorized the serial number of this bounty, then found a girl in the association's uniform not far from the bounty list and asked about it.

Many of the employees in the association weren't beastmasters, but ordinary people.

If a beastmaster wasn't especially short on money, they wouldn't be willing to take on such a cumbersome job.

The young girl's expression was rather strange when she heard that someone wanted to accept the sparring partner bounty mission.

Even though she found it strange, the young lady still explained to Ji An the contents of the bounty that no one had been willing to accept after it had been put up for quite some time.

The person who posted the bounty was a rank two Entry-level beastmaster as registered in the association, a member of the Ling Family in Encircle Town, Ling Shuangyue.

Even though Ji An had never heard of Ling Shuangyue before this, he had heard of the Ling Family.

The most famous families in Encircle Town were the families of the seven founders.

They were known as the Seven Families of Encircle Town.

The Ling Family was one of the families whose reputation was second only to those seven families.

However, the Ling Family was famous not because of their strength but for their shocking wealth.

The Ling Family ran the largest supplement company in Encircle Town. Nearly a quarter of the high-end pharmacies in Encircle Town were the Ling Family's property.

"Mr. Ji, are you sure you want to accept this bounty mission?" After the girl finished her introduction, she confirmed again.

Ji An nodded, handing over his beastmaster certificate.

He noticed the strange look in the young girl's eyes and could roughly guess what she was thinking.

A bounty mission worth 2000 yuan was undoubtedly one that offered the lowest reward on the entire bounty list.

There probably wouldn't be many beastmasters interested in it.

After all, most of the beastmasters had a strong background and wealth.

Even if they had no background, as long as they joined an organization, they would be nurtured.

It was truly rare to see a beastmaster like Ji An, who was so poor that he couldn't have the next meal after this one.

"Mr. Ji, we've completed your registration. Please keep your communicator on. We'll contact you immediately if there's any news," After she was done with her work on the computer, the young girl respectfully handed Ji An's beastmaster identification card back to him.

With that, Ji An, who had accepted the bounty mission, left the Beastmaster Association with the winter bear cub.
