Synopsis
After the release of the world's most largest and most advanced video game, Magical Lands, gaming became a profession not a hobby. Although this could be seen as a step forward within the gaming community and the world, Frederick saw differently. "People need to have more fun when playing video games, it's a game, not a job." With this mindset Frederick started his adventure in Magical Lands. His goal? To have fun of course!

Chapter 1 - Frederick

As Frederick layed in bed he couldn't help but think about the VR helmet he purchased this morning, although it was not the latest model it was one of the helmets tailor-made to work with the newest game on the market, Magical Lands.

Magical Lands was the largest video-game in history, it had been teased over 12 years before it's beta-release. With the stunning visuals and infamy surrounding the games creator's, it was one of, if not the most anticipated game in history. And after a succesful 3-month long beta-release it was finally released to the public today.

Although the game had been released early this morning, Frederick did not manage to make time to play the game, not only did he have to purchase the helmet this morning, since his original was incomapatible with the game. He also had to attend both school and tutoring throughout the day and afternoon.

However now that he had finished all his work for the day he had finally made time to play the game. As he layed down on his bed and attached the power cord of the helmet into the outlet sitting beside his bed, Frederick was ecstatic.

As Frederick put the helmet upon his head he had to adjust his eyes to the bright light of the helmet's UI, after all he had been sitting in an almost pitch black room before putting on the helmet. However before his eyes adjusted he felt a sense of sleepiness rush over him. It was similar to when one was put under anesthesia, you felt fine for the first few seconds however after that you began to feel sleepy and everything within your memories became hazy.

When Frederick awoke he was within a pure white room, despite the room being completely white it wasn't extremely bright so it didn't hurt his eyes. Although Frederick hadn't played Magical Lands before he had played other VR Helmet games so he quickly adjusted to the feeling of being within the game.

After he had adjusted a large sky blue interface appeared.

[Dexterity: 10]

Those who saw these stats may think that it was idiotic to put almost all of Fredericks stat point into Magic Attack, however in Frederick's eyes those who thought this were fools.

'Although this may not be the most tactial stat distribution it's perfect for my patented glass cannon strategy.' He thought.

[Please choose a starting skill]

[Magic Missile]

[Fireball]

[Magic Hand]

This was a slightly harder decision, although Frederick had decided to play as a mage he was unsure of what starting skill he would select. Skills weren't just a one-time selection, each skill someone would select dictated their future choices, both in class evolution and future skills.

'Magic Hand is a no-go, although it has great versatility and it can equip a physical weapon it's not a typical mage spell, if I choose it i'm more likely to end up a magic swordsman or warrior. Magic missile is a great attacking skill however it's a low-cost, low-damage skill with a slight stun effect on impact. Fireball however is a high-cost, high-damage skill with a burn effect on impact.'

After some quick deliberation Frederick eventually decided to go with Fireball, it matched his ideal playstyle with it being the highest damage option of the 3 skills, it was also the flashiest skill. When used, Magic Missile released a small blue orb that traveled along, Fireball however was a larger flaming orange orb. They couldn't be compared in terms of looks.
