Chapter 9 - Return to Lycan

December 20, 1880

Lucas, Troy, and Sasha returned to Lycan early Monday morning. The weather was cold, if not for their fur they'd be shivering. Luckily their winter coats were quite thick. Thick enough to keep the cold out. While the weather didn't get as cold as most places. If not for their fur this trip would have been a lot harder on them..

The return trip went smoothly; they even encountered a rock bear which was rare around this area. The trio chose to just ignore it and ran around it continuing their journey to Lycan. Once to the gates Lucas noticed the decorations strung around the city. He always forgot about St. Nicks Day. Once inside the gates you couldn't ignore the 40 foot tall tree erected in the center of town. Once to the Center the Three split paths agreeing to meet 6 days from now before leaving town.

Lucas had sent a letter to his father about enrolling both Sasha and Troy in the University. Along with telling his father not to slack at his training because when Lucas returns they'll have another match. This was thanks to some hunters he ran into in the woods. After they received the letter they quickly returned. Lucas had also asked for his father to give them a generous amount of money since he felt bad interrupting their hunt.

When Lucas got to the estate he first went to bathe before heading to his room to rest. The following day Lucas thought to himself, " I should train my body. I may be lean with muscle but I need to be able to take a hit." With this idea Lucas went to Gregor and asked the man to punch him multiple times in order to toughen his muscles further. To most this was extreme and even Gregor hesitated at first but Lucas told him to go ahead. The first day of the exercise went poorly as it resulted in him bruising badly. Luckily his advanced healing kicked in so he was ready for the next day. Lucas continued this for the next three days.

After the exercises ended Lucas rested for the last day before the match with his father. While everything had been going on Lucas had still managed to go see his father everyday. Most of the time he'd see his father at dinner. His father held a proud look on his face every time he'd see Lucas during dinner. Lucas was sure his father would miss him since he would also miss him. They've always been close. The only time they had been apart for any length of time was during the war when Alexander was summoned to fight. He was gone on and off for 3 years. He'd return just long enough to sort out Lycan affairs and a day or two with Lucas before leaving. Lucas didn't remember much from that time anyways so it didn't bother him but he was sure it bothered his father. After sorting his thoughts Lucas Headed to his room eager for his fight tomorrow.

The following morning Lucas jumped out of bed excited. He hurriedly got dressed and readied himself for the day. Once finished he rushed downstairs for breakfast. After wolfing down his food he went to the training yard where he found his father waiting quietly enjoying the sunrise. Lucas sat next to his father deciding to watch this sunset with his father one more time before he the match and before he left for Knight. Alexander spoke up breaking the silence, " I'm not gonna know what to do without you looking out for me son. I do know you've turned yourself into a fine young man of course with the help of a few good people." Alexander smiled as he talked, " After our match and you leave everything will change. You must be careful not every Noble family is as Noble as ours. While we stick to our code of being kind others are Liars or deceitful with the exception of a few other good families. The Amoux they're good, though very judging. The Unthers are good as well. As far as the families that reside in the capital you will have to make your own judgment of them. Most wouldn't dare to cross you but they could still plot in the shadows so grow strong and be careful and wary on your journeys."

After saying this Alexander walked to his same spot as the last match and turned into his wolf. This time it seemed even bigger than last time and looked like more of an overgrown bear than a wolf. The sun was now up shining brightly and his father looked even more amazing in the morning light. After finishing admiring his father Lucas walked to his spot and shifted into his brilliant grey color. At least that's what Alexander expected but now Lucas wolf was a dazzling silver and in the sunlight he almost seemed to glow. After transforming Alexander noticed Lucas had gotten bigger which meant stronger as well. Seeing this Alexander prepared for a fight.

Lucas prepared himself by calming his mind and focused on the task at hand. Once calm he decided he'd use his same tactic as the last match. Alexander haunches himself at Lucas. Caught off guard all Lucas could do was manage to barely dodge and see that where he was once standing a small crater stood from where his father hit the ground. Alexander talked to Lucas in his head saying, " Focus and be aware of your surroundings I'm not gonna go as easy on you as I did last time."

Lucas relaxed himself and got serious letting a deadly calm aura flow through him which in turn made Alexander's hair bristle in response. Lucas jumped forward and grabbed his fathers tail and used it to swing him around then threw him about 15 yards where he rolled and then jumped to his feet running full sprint towards him. Lucas then ran full sprint towards his father but at the last second before impact lowered himself and went for his fathers chest which ended In his father simply tackling him. Which knocked him back several yards further than his father had.

Their fight could be heard throughout the manor and even part of the city, now busy with people making their usual routes. Acfew even panicked at first thinking there was an attack but once the panic subsided they just looked at the estate curiously before returning to their lives. Meanwhile the fight had been going on for a while and it was time for it to draw to a close. Alexander was currently thinking of the best way to win against his son without injuring him too badly for his trip. Lucas on the other hand was deciding his best plan of attack all while jumping in and out giving his father quick nips here and there. Some were landing though must were dodged which made Lucas only try harder.

Lucas changed his plan and then his path and suddenly ran straight at his father who in return ran at him. Lucas ran straight at him and instead of dodging head butted his father and followed it up with a tackle. This knocked Alexander off his feet a little disoriented. Lucas wasn't much better as he could barely keep his balance as he jumped and planted a paw on his fathers chest saying " I won." After saying this he sat down catching his breath. Alexander spoke up, " You're really something you know that, never did I imagine you would charge at me." If I would have expected you to actually charge instead of dodge I would have knocked you out of the estate. " Lucas replied by saying, "You didn't expect it though, which is how I won." Lucas smiled which looked a bit odd seeing a wolf small but Alexander just smiled in return. After resting for a bit they made their way back inside for Lucas to enjoy his remaining time home.
