Kwadudu
Purple lightning flashed in the sky as Max prepared to engage the enemy.
Dark Thunder growled at him as it proceeded to attack.
Max's danger senses went off as he moved to the side just in time to watch purple lightning streak down from above and slam into the area he was previously standing on.
Before he could recover from the surprise assault, shadows moved behind him as they slowly wiggled and morphed into the shape of a man wearing a hood.
"Die!" His blade moved but it only managed to cut the air as Max had already moved out of the way.
With a serious expression, Max could already tell that Peril would not be enough to handle both attackers that seemed quite capable of launching sneak attacks quickly.
Just now, they had attacked separately allowing him time to react but there wouldn't be a next time. He definitely couldn't risk it.
The hooded individual clicked his tongue as he melded back into the darkness. Making use of the attribute, Shadow Walker, he was able to meld into shadows of objects to move about unimpeded.
For Max that was unable to sense the energy fluctuations, it was quite dangerous to keep holding back.
"Foresight." Without further Ado, Max activated the Temporal law technique which allowed him to perfectly predict the future, at least five seconds in.
This technique under combat situations would be constantly active, allowing him to see what would happen five seconds later.
His eyes glowed slightly as what he saw changed.
Gripping his staff tightly, he closed his eyes as he sort to get used to the change in perspective.
Just then, the hooded individual moved toward him while Dark Thunder charged up to attack.
The two of them charged at Max simultaneously with the hooded figure brandishing his blade while channeling lightning through his body to increase his speed.
Dark Thunder on the other hand congregated a massive amount of dark clouds above Max's head and sort to strike him down as it gathered the lightning energy.
With a boom, the lightning struck down and the hooded individual moved from Max's blindspot.
Just as Max had envisioned, both were not planning on allowing him to have his way any longer.
Unfortunately, they were a step too late in their cooperation.
Max suddenly opened his eyes as his aura changed ever so slightly.
He had already foreseen their attack and had also decided on a counterattack.
It seemed easy but it wasn't.
Max suddenly leaped back to avoid the lightning attack as he activated Convergence, causing the hooded individual's attack to move toward the center of his spine.
In response, he moved his staff and parried the attack without a need to look back.
The hooded figure was shocked once again. "But how…"
Before he could collect his thoughts, Max suddenly turned and reached out to grab his neck.
The hooded individual snorted. "You think I'm so easy to kill!" with a thought, he quickly melded back into the shadows.
At this point, Dark Thunder was looking at Max with a hateful expression. The latter had managed to escape its grasp twice and what's more, it sensed a familiar power from him.
A power that most magical creatures would instantly grow wary of once they sensed it.
Max only gave it a sidelong glance as he concentrated on the pissed-off assassin that was currently circling him.
How did he know this?... Because he could sense the constant movement of his life force, albeit a little faint due to the interference of the darkness.
"Dark attribute sure is troublesome." Max mused as he tried to pinpoint the hooded individual's location.
"Enough of this, since I can't take you down with one attack, then I'll try it from all angles!"
Shadow clones!
Max felt a rare sense of danger as Peril immediately warned him of what was about to happen.
His eyes went wide as he watched the darkness around him morph into dark copies of the hooded individual, each one holding a blade as they glared at Max.
As they moved to attack him, Max panicked for a single moment before he realized a problem.
"Wait… what I'm seeing now is what's going to happen five seconds from now… fuck!... Foresight is really problematic to use."
Even though it was the first technique he got from the elder frog bestowment, Foresight turned out to be one of his most difficult techniques due to almost always forgetting that once it was active, he would no longer be able to see what happens in the present.
Sighing helplessly, Max quickly acted just as the hooded individual created the shadow copies to attack him.
Channeling Ordena into his Staff, Max willed it and it began to extend toward the sky and into the dark clouds, allowing him to escape the encirclement.
He made use of the staff like a pole to get across to another roof but the danger was not far away as he quickly put up the staff just in time to catch a large wolf just as it sneak attacked him.
"Ugh.", Max grunted as the wolf exerted force on him and bared its teeth.
Just as he was trying to push it back, he heard its voice. "…filthy Sage!"
Max furrowed his brows at this as he realized that the wolf seemed to hold some kind of grudge with him… or the title he held.
Just then, the hooded individual came from behind. "Die…" with his blade coated in purple lightning, he closed the distance in a flash and struck down, at the same time, the wolf chomped down on his head.
An explosion of electricity overshadowed the sound of bones getting chewed on with a dust cloud rising from the point of impact.
The hooded figure sighed. "This has to be the most annoying job I have ever taken up…"
He trailed off as he heard Dark Thunder's voice in his head. As a Summoner, The hooded individual and his contracted beast were able to share a mental link, allowing them to communicate as well as coordinate better.
"He is not dead yet…" Dark Thunder's words were enough to cause the hooded man to tense up as he slowly but surely turned his head to look toward another roof.
"Yo…"
