Chereads / Ascension of the Samsara Sage / Chapter 26 - Tudor County

Chapter 26 - Tudor County

It only took a little over fifteen minutes before Max was done fixing the carriage.

During that period, he pondered on the state of the staff in his hand.

As was made clear, the frogs never made use of normal artifacts, always opting for strange and peculiar ones.

It coincided with their queer state amongst magical creatures.

Max tapped into the mysteries frog grandma instilled into the staff and managed to figure out a few things.

Firstly, the weapon had the title, Staff of Order. Frog Grandma had named it herself.

Its capabilities included the ability to shrink and extend, a technique that seemed to have been copied from a similar weapon used by a powerful Asura.

Apart from that, when imbued with Ordena, it could be used to facilitate the growth of plant life and also control it to his will.

It basically gave him the control over Wood attribute, albeit slightly, a welcome addition to his abilities.

He could only sigh inwardly as he realized the worth of the artifact in his hands was worth more than ordinary magic weapons.

As his training came to an end… yes, Max saw repairing the carriage as an opportunity to train himself.

After all, his main goals required him to be strong to complete them, thus he would take any chance he got to hone his abilities.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how he looked at it, meeting his mother had its merits and demerits.

For now, he wouldn't think of that.

He stopped his redirection of Ordena which led to the staff shrinking back to its original length after which he turned over to face Lara.

"Good as new."

Lara clapped as she walked over. "Oh wow, you really fixed it. I may have just found a new way to make money… what do you think about becoming a repairman?"

"What in the world?... I'm a freaking Sage, mom."

"Don't sweat the specifics." Lara waved his complaints away.

Max did not know whether to laugh or cry.

With the carriage fixed, Lara directed the maids to load it up while Max moved to fix the next one.

But by the time he was done with the second carriage, he was drained of energy thus they made do with the two carriages to transport themselves back to Tudor county.

With Laura mounting her Cockatrice, she left and quickly returned with the horses the barbarians had used to chase her before Max came to her rescue.

With two horses pulling the carriage with the maids and the goods while one pulled the carriage with Lara and Max, they began their journey.

Midgard, also known as the human realm was a land of magic and wonder.

Ever since the War for Supremacy, the rise and fall of several powers have been recorded in the annals of history.

With wars fought and blood shed, four powers currently existed, ruling over the world while also keeping the balance to ensure that everything did not crash.

Zion Empire, Judah Dynasty, Solomon Alliance, and Salem Theocracy.

Those were the names of the four powers, all four occupying a continent of their own.

Currently, Zion Empire was in a crisis as a result of the rebel uprising, putting the land in a precarious state, but that didn't mean that the Empire had lost its splendor.

As Max looked out the window, staring at the city known as Tudor county, he could not help but admire the aesthetics.

Nothing could compare to the beauty of Golden Clover, but he had to confess that there was a certain touch that the frogs lacked and humanity possessed.

Tudor County was located on the western front of the Zion Empire, quite close to the seaport, making it a prime location for traders that sorted for merchandise from other powers.

This allowed the city to grow till it turned into what it was today.

Even though it wasn't a noble city, it had managed to turn itself into a prime location for nobles to visit, earning itself prestige amongst the nobility.

As Max admired the outward look of the city, Lara was already making plans on how to spend time with her child.

It had been far too long. After four years of no communication, he had grown up without her.

She reached out and touched Max's cheek, drawing his attention. "Let's try and have some fun, okay?"

Max smiled as he nodded slightly. "Okay."

They soon got to the gates of the city where the city guards were waiting to receive them.

"Identification please." A city guard remarked as he walked up to their entourage.

Laura rolled her eyes. "Trying to act like you don't see me, Romeo?"

The guard grinned. "Hehe, don't mind me. Just following protocol."

Laura harrumphed. "Let me see you anywhere close to my dad's villa whenever we throw a party."

Romeo quickly buckled. "Oh come on, don't be so harsh, I was only doing my job." Turning to a vantage point at the top of the wall, he gestured for them to open it.

Obliging, they quickly did so.

"Hehe, see that, sorry for the wait," Romeo said.

Laura harrumphed once again just as the gates slowly parted to reveal the entrance to the city.

Without sparing Romeo another glance, she led the entourage into the city.

As they moved in, Max took in the beauty of the city.

It's lovely buildings, carefree people that seemed quite social, the paved roads, and best of all… no frogs.

No wait, that sounded wrong… Hah, never mind.

Max shook his head. "Hey mom, let's tour the city later on."

Lara replied. "Sure. Any place you would like to visit?"

"Everywhere I guess."

With that said, they headed toward the inner part of the city where the truly rich traders resided.

Tudor County was divided into three different sections, the outer section where the common trader resided, the inner section where the richer ones stayed, and then the central area which was marked as the place for nobility.

Laura's father was Sir Lloyd Webber. Apparently, he was a commoner that had worked his way to the top, dabbling in so many businesses, that several people wondered how he was able to keep track of all of them.

No one wasn't aware of Lloyd's Business chain due to its fame.

This allowed him a lot of prestige and also envy as well since his fame had somehow managed to overshadow a few small noble houses, drawing their ire but they tried not to show it.

In the end, Max looked forward to meeting this influential business magnate. After all, he had to thank him for helping Lara.
