Max was faced with an unbreakable wall that he could not outrun no matter how much he tried. Unfortunately, he didn't have a law technique that increased his speed thus there was no point in thinking about that.
His only option was to brute force his way through the sand wall to attack Sandman. Using Rotating Spirit Orb crossed his mind but he immediately shot down that idea.
Using such a move that placed a heavy strain on him to attack the defense mechanism felt like overkill.
It would be overdoing it and he couldn't be sure that he would be able to take down Sandman immediately after breaking through his defense.
He wasn't keen on using his trump card especially when Sandman looked like someone that had hidden cards of her own but was trying her best not to make use of them.
In a case where a trump card would cause problems if used, that was the situation both individuals were in.
