These were the techniques Max received from Ryuk's gift to him.
Based on the number of skills it was easy to figure out that Ryuk had barely made it into the Venerable rank and used his Elven capabilities to augment it to something greater.
One would think this was a reasonable level but considering the fact that Ryuk was close to five hundred years old, it was easy to tell that he had run into a problem with his cultivation at some point which stunted his growth and reduced his level of understanding which is necessary in gaining enlightenment.
It was sensible when one realized that the creator of those techniques were unable to use them to their fullest extent because of his restrictions that came with being half human, half Elf.
The enlightenment he always received would be blocked by his Elven side, resulting him only reaping half the benefits most times.
