"If you want to go, then go. I am not obligated to take care of you nor am I obligated to ensure your safety. So do what you want." Max said without mincing words.
Silence reigned as he stared at Elena with the latter keeping mum for a few seconds before she dropped to her knees, bawling her eyes out.
Her pain was understandable but Max couldn't find it within him to feel sorry for her.
If anything, he felt sorry for those that loved her despite her glaring flaws.
If not for their sake, he would have already meted out justice to the crazy girl that dared to plot against him.
"We should go," Cedric remarked, placing his palm on Max's shoulder to quell his anger.
Now wasn't the time for internal struggle.
Taking a deep breath, Max calmed his nerves as he turned to take his leave.
Just then, Elena spoke amidst the tears flowing down her cheeks. "Please help me… I don't know what to do anymore."
"…Why should I help you?" Max coldly asked.
