Magic. A concept that was first brought into fruition between the Hero Emperor's faction and the Cultist Faction.
Magic is the principle to call forth upon the world's elements to bend them to your will. They came from the universe or as the people called it: "the 4th dimension". Humans utilized magic after the discovery of their own 4th dimensional existence, the soul. Each color of the soul showed different parts of a being, memories, experiences, and feelings. All of them dictate the soul's aura. The aura controls what elements and affinities one possesses and naturally allows them to interact with the 4th dimensional elements. Those with aura are hailed as geniuses and find nigh limitless possibilities in their life. However, only a small group per generation can determine their true aura color, and an even more rare occurrence is when a person can see their soul. And in contrast, those who can see their souls are guaranteed to rise up and soar through the sky like a meteor; and just like a meteor those who can land will survive, and those that are flashy and lack strength, die.
What does your soul look like? Bright? Dark? Shining? The young Rolf Einherjar wouldn't answer. Devoid of any feeling he wouldn't be able to have a definitive answer, but he for sure could say it was like the void; dark, lonely, and the emptiness eating him inside. Why? For what reason would his soul be like that?
Tempered within a living hell, for the past 4.5 years, the only word that could come to his mind would always be, "Why?" and "Is there an end?".
Why was he worse than others? Why was he always trying so hard? Why is everyone better than him?
Each passing day, Rolf thinks for hours uselessly searching for answers.
Perhaps Rolf is an overthinker, maybe he was built to be one. After all, the only thing he could do was think about others rather than himself during those hours not spent in the chair. Dumbass, worthless, stupid, piece of shit, fucker, all of those were just common words to him, feeling them on a daily basis made him numb to name calling yet there was a reason why the brain and heart are 2 different things. They are both always active and rely on each other, and yet, they couldn't be more different. The brain performs with logic and information, while the heart is purely instinctual and relies on the inner feeling buried deep and engraved within the body's system. There's a clean line between want and need and perhaps that line was blurred when it came across Rolf.
All beings are like machines, they are meant for a purpose. However when a machine runs out of purpose, no longer are they needed. Thrown out in the weather machines rust, wither, and break down. Perhaps, if they are "lucky" they may be used for other purposes, like machines and tools, Rolf's family found another use for him.
The Einherjar Family was once a prestigious military household in the Wintry Kingdom and the King's direct advisors and companions in battle. However now, they are a lowly household whose reputation diminished a few centuries ago and forced them to also become backstabbing mercenaries to still prosper and keep somewhat of their already degraded reputation. When that was not enough to keep their household afloat they would stoop to mere beggars and bootlick their King, Arne Erikson. Seizing whatever chance they could possibly take, they would occasionally pester their king's uncle, Bjorn Erikson, who was the Archduke, under the guise of his ancestor's past debt to their household's lord. Bjorn's grandfather was once saved by the Einherjar's family lord and in exchange, he swore a generations long cooperation in which their predecessors held up respectfully. However, not too long after the Einherjar's fall the Erikson's branch family (the archducal household) had tried to cut any form of interaction between them, but, alas, the shamelessness of Rolf's parents knew no bounds.
Forced between a rock and a hard place Bjorn would occasionally help their household. Rolf's parents accepted it as if they were a teen coming of drinking age to a beer.

In the Planet Heimdall, there were 5 main continents, the Northern, Western, Eastern, Central, and Southern continents. The Northern continent is by far the largest continent on the planet, nearing 10,000,000 miles2 (about 26 million km2). Despite being the largest continent only around 40% was explored and even less than that at around 30% was habitable. Both North and South Continents were very cold however, the Northern Continent was nearly twice as cold in only the explored areas. The common temperature in the North is 0 to -10 C (32 to 14 F) in the livable areas. Located in the North-most habitable region in the Northern Continent lies the Wintry Kingdom, established nearly a millennium ago this kingdom produces some of the finest warriors alive. Although extremely cold, magic has developed some technology to improve the lives of the kingdom. One of such technologies was a magical formation that could cover the entire kingdom. This formation is one of the only reasons that the Wintry Kingdom could have lasted for so long. The formation can cover the entire 750,000 miles2 (about 2,000,000 km2), although the territory has expanded since the start, for something of this caliber to exist several hundred years ago is a miracle! Within the Wintry Kingdom only a few households have ruled the land and for the past 400 years, the Erikson Family has occupied that role. Of course within the nobility there is an Archduke, Dukes, Marquesses, Earls, Viscounts, and Barons.
The Einherjar House was once a Ducal household however, currently they are ranked at the bottom of Marquess and bordering towards an Earl. Sick and tired of their treatment and their imminent downfall, the Einherjar Family was drawn towards mercenary jobs, loans, and dirty tricks.

"Why art thou such utter trash?!??" Rolf's father spat. (A/N sorry I just had to do it lol)
Rolf had been learning the ways of the sword for the past month while awaiting for the magic evaluation results, and today they had just been received by his father…
