Chapter 8 - Combat Exam (4)

"I guess he managed to pull it off." Up in a tree branch hundreds of meters away from all the commotion, a beautiful lady casually sat on the branch while leaning her back on the tree trunk, it was instructor Jenny.

Being one of the many instructors that had been assigned to watch over the students she had decided to Mei's group.

She had caught a glimpse of all the action that had erupted since the beginning, at first she was doubtful of their victory and was ready to swoop in time to save her precious students.

But with Nico's finally landing a fatal blow towards the iron plated moose she breathed a sigh of relief, "You're alot different from what i remember."

Meanwhile only a mile and away.

The ground trembled slightly from the simultaneous movement of hundreds of wolves, these weren't ordinary wolves but they mostly consisted of low and medium quality tier ones, while their pack leader was high quality tier one.

Their pack leader that lead the group in the front suddenly widened it's eyes, it could firmly sense it's 'prey' and it had hastened it's movements due to excitement.

***

While the large horde of wolves were sprinting towards the group in lightning speed, they were taking a well deserved brake, they huddled in a group and sat on the ground.

Though the iron plated moose has already been slain, the effects of it's skill has yet to be neutralise, luckily it was only temporary and gradually they could slowly move their bodies, walking was now an option but running is still out of the equation.

While they relaxed for a bit they drank a fraction of their supply of healing and mana potions, as their names suggest the healing potions is a liquid substance that hastens their regeneration and as for the mana potion it hastens their mana regeneration.

The small scars and injuries they had sustained during the fight were swiftly healed by not only the natural healing capabilities of their bodies but also due to the healing potions and Summin's healing skills.

While their almost dwindling supply of mana were slowly being filled, with Nico's already small supply of mana it didn't take long for him to fill his mana supply in less than a minute.

Combined with the two thousand stat points he'd obtain he had a total of 16160 points of mana which easily satisfied him, it hasn't even been a day yet he'd already garner more than two thousand points.

Awoo!

Hearing a ferociously loud howl they switched all their attention towards it and that included Jenny, they furrowed their brows in anticipation while they stood up and tightly gripped their weapons.

Swoosh!

The pack leader of the wolves swooped in first trying to use the dense bushes as cover, but this trick was futile with great senses the group easily noticed the meter long wolf, it's fur had a silver colour very similar to the moose's antlers.

It displayed many rows of razor sharp teeth seemingly made of steel, though not as sturdy as the moose's antlers they can still pack a punch especially to the almost helpless condition of the group and their restriction of being denied the use of armour.

Realising it had blown it's cover it slowly walked out of the dense bushes and vegetation revealing itself, "I doubt theirs only one wolf, brace yourselves!" Mei said in a serious tone, he walked forward and was up front while pushing his shield forward.

"This will be difficult since we can't run but we at least have to try." Mei felt helpless but his eyes and tone were filled with determination, the determination to never give up. "Agreed." Summin lightly nodded and walked to Mei's left aiming his bow towards the lone wolf.

Mei smiled seeing Summin's response, the other three also followed and prepared to fight.

Rustle Rustle...

Behind the pack leader many more had slowly appeared, "Tens..." Mei scoffed but a moment later his eyes widened it shock, "A hundred?!" His frown deepened and he swallowed his saliva, "No..."

Droplets of sweat dripped from his forehead down to his nose, he took a deep breath and exhaled his breathing was rough, "Maybe... Five hundred." Just saying those three words made him tremble but he regained his composure.

As the leader he had to set an example and so he smiled and took two step forward, he turned to look at his teammates who already had despair fill their thought, 'Five hundred at the very least mostly low and middle quality tier ones, not much of a problem but in our condition I don't think we can win this...' Nico sighed.

Experiencing countless battles where they were outnumbered or in a disadvantaged position this didn't make him budge, it seemed like it was already a normal occurrence to him, 'Well I'm not really that close to these four and they aren't my responsibility so I'm going to bail.' It hasn't been a day yet and he wasn't very close to his teammates so anything that happens to them wouldn't affect him.

When Nico was about turn and escape to save himself Nico's body had stiffened and prevented him from turning back and run, 'Huh?! Why can't I run?!... Reika!' Nico was sent into a panic, "Host you can turn away to save yourself, their are fragments of the past soul still hidden within the body, with the former soul's personality he wouldn't let his friends die while he ran and so this is what is happening to you right now, don't worry host the left over fragments will slowly leave the body sooner or later."

Nico lips twitched, 'What a pain!' 'I just reincarnated and now I'm about to die again!' Nico frowned and he lowered his head and was literally about to cry.

'I guess I have no choice' Nico fixed his posture wielding his spear with both hands before pointing It to the incoming horde of wolves, 'Reika you have a solution for me?' "Host I have already accessed a fraction of your legacy, If you want I can give it to you now."

This gave Nico a glimmer of hope of survival and had a big grin on his face.

'Alright give it to me...'

While the two parties were about the clash high above in the trees Jenny was in a panic, she wore a instructor's uniform with a doctors coat on her back, she was hurriedly grabbing something deep in her pockets, she took out her specialised weapons... six inches long thin needles.
