Some days later, after dinner that evening, Aunt Se-Wa called me to her room for a little talk , I was so exhausted that night, because I had to do some run-arounds with Aunt Se-Wa like going to the office with her to clear in some just-arrived goods. My parents owned a Winery, my father was in charge of the factory and importation of goods, while he kept my mom in charge of the branding and income ( she was mainly in charge of the MONEY!), as a child the only workplace of my parents I've ever been to was the wine factory, and I went there only once in a while. Every other place I went with Aunt Se-Wa that day all looked new to me, I was actually wondering if it was really my parents that owned such luxury. Aunt once told me that most people who knew my parents hardly knew they had a child.
I was wondering what she really wanted to talk about at that time of the day. Aunt Se-Wa had to move in to the mansion to stay with me before my parents funeral, she got divorced five years ago after finding out that her so called beloved husband was having an affair outside marriage and he claimed that he had no choice but to do it because Aunt Se-Wa couldn't bare him a child. Thereafter she lived alone, with the little wealth she was able to acquire, she opened a restaurant and due to her cooking skills, her business did well.
I walked up to her room and knocked, " come in," she said, and I walked in. "hi aunt," "hey, come have a seat" she said and offered me a seat beside her bed " what's it that you wanted talk about, that couldn't wait till tomorrow?" I asked " it's about you Cha" she said " what about me again aunt?, did I do or say anything wrong today?", " No not that, actually I called you here to know, what's next and by that I mean what are you planning to do now, are you thinking of going back or staying to run the family business? " she asked " well about that, if I'll be honest with you, I really don't think I wanna stay in Seoul, there's nothing here to stay for, and am not really interested in my father's business I actually have my own career and life to live" I said " so all your father's wealth will all go down the drain, is that what you mean?" " I never said that Aunt, you see we could use the more for other investments instead and give some off to charity, I wan never interested in my father's wealth", She sighed and looked at me for a while " We'll be having a meeting with the lawyer tomorrow at his office by 11am, go to bed", " but Aunt isn't it too early to have a meeting with the lawyer, my parents just got buried today, at-least we should wait till the next week", " it's urgent Cha, you should know I won't just request for a meeting with your father's lawyer without a reason", " okay then, 11am it is then, I'll be retiring to bed now", " sure that's all I had to say, have a goodnight rest okay!" she said, " sure and you too Aunt" I said and gave her a light kiss on the cheek and left for my room. i opened my room door, walked in and shut it behind me. I couldn't really sleep that night, lots of thoughts were going on in my head. I picked up my phone and texted Isa and Bel on our private group chat, we texted for a while, they both apologized for not being able to attend my parents funeral, they both got caught up with work and stuff, and everything happened unexpectedly, I retired to bed later on.
By 11am prompt the next morning we were at the lawyer's office, we were walked into his office by his secretary, who went out later. "Good morning Mr Jefferson," We greeted, " Beautiful morning to you two!" he replied as he offered us a seat. Mr Jefferson, my dad's lawyer was from Texas, my dad hired him when we had a family case a long time ago. He lived with his family in Seoul.
"Actually Miss Se-Wa the reason I called to see you after today is because there's actually a problem" he said, " how, what do you mean Sir?" Aunt asked, " you see before Mr Sung-Ho died he gave me a document stating clearly that it was his will, he told me to read it in front of his family and by that he meant you, his wife who he didn't presume would die, and his daughter since he hasn't really been in good terms with his relatives" " sorry Sir but could you please go straight to the point, what really are you driving at?" I asked already feeling uneasy about the whole thing, Aunt held my hand in a way that meant 'Relax' "the truth is there is no will..., Am sorry," "What!,…. What do you mean by there's no will?, so what was in the document my Brother-in-law gave to you?" Aunt sounded half crossed already, " Relax madam, just hear me out this issue is more than what you think", " okay Mr Jefferson tell us all we need to know about the document and why my father left no will" I said, "Okay then, here is the document", he said as he reached for his drawer and brought out a file and handed it over to Aunt Se-Wa, she opened it, flipped through it as she was going through the file she shook her head and held her hand across her mouth, I was confused, what was going on? "Wait, Aunt what's that, what's in the file, what does it say?" I asked, " hand it over to her, let her see for herself" he told Aunt, she gave me the file, I went through it word by word, I was shocked by what I read!, The file fell out of my hand.
