"My ass hurt" Kendra whined and pouts her face
"Sorry dear" Her father dragged her tighter and pecked her forehead.
Her younger brother hissed "rubbish" he hissed again
"Joshua, what is it?" She rolled her eyes at the seventeen-year-old.
"It's so irritating how you girl acts or whines most times, like are you the merely one in the car or were you the only traveling down from home?"
Kendra's mouth dropped open while Joshua mimicked her "my ass hurt"
"Bro you didn't have to be mean" Rhoda the last child of the Sylvester said and rolled her eyes.
"Shut up" he yelled.
The parents said nothing to their children in fact they acted like they weren't there.
Kendra looked out of the window and got lost in her thoughts.
Loneliness ebbed in her heart. She thought back to the time that has been the most significant and thrilling and having fun with her cousins in her grandmother's house and farm.
Kendra smiled at the memories of running around the area and picking flowers from the garden a fruit from the farm.
The times spent with family, but now it's just her mind, her brain.
How did she go from being this carefree kid to not really sad but going days without having a conversation with anyone but her brains?
Except on days when Joshua is around to frustrate life out of her and Rhoda, if she's not in her room listening to music from her phone,or somewhere out there with her friends.
Kendra didn't know when she moved from "going out with friends" to "I just want to stay at home", her friends most times forced her to go out with them.
Maybe because she was still a virgin and the guy she once loved broke up with her cause she wouldn't let him have his ways with her.
Kendra wondered why a guy will say "I will love you more when I have sex with you" and proudly smirk.
The male gender has no shame.
Which annoys the hell out of her. She wondered if it was more about sex than love.
If it was about sticking their pencil in a sharpener or doing the necessary by supporting and building your woman.
Kendra noticed she has lost energy to vibe with human beings, and nowadays it's just her and her thoughts.
She feels that if her friends stopped talking to her, she wouldn't even notice because she barely talk to them except her. Best friends who still get a grasp of their friendship and she was thankful for it.
Kendra's eyes wandered away to the field that their cars drive past by.
"Kenny, are you alright?" her mother's side glance her
"Yeah mom i'm" she answered and looked away.
This time she focused on the voice from the radio.
"They have arrested a man identified as Romeo Samuel in the city of New York. According to neighbors, they said they heard noises and figured out it was from Mr Romeo apartment. A witness Samantha had spoken, she said:
"It was an usual thing more like an everyday thing between the couples to fight but today was different, cause we heard gunshot, we got into the house, I and three other neighbors, Mrs. Samuel was shot dead and her husband the killer was nowhere to be found"
The reporter continued, "Now, the police are on their way to catch the murderer"
Kendra hissed, "I don't know how they will kill someone, elope and have peace of mind"
"Some people are just being a psycho" Joshua answered
"I like psycho" Rhoda smiled
"You mean psychology, yeah?" Joshua glared at her
"Which means the study of man and his mind and science" Rhoda forced a smile
Kendra giggled and winked at Rhoda.
It's's quite fascinating that as she's the first child and two years ahead of Joshua, he can intimidate sometimes, being that he's the only boy with two sisters and the middleman. He can be annoying too.
"Are we not there yet?" Rhoda grumbled "I'm tired and I need to pee"
"Should I park somewhere around and you'd pee cause we're an hour away from Grandma's house" her father explained to Rhoda
"I will hold it" was the answer she spurt out beneath her breathes
"Good" her father looked at her from the mirror.
Kendra rested her head against the window and slept off.
Soon, they pulled up at their grandmother's garage.
"We're here" their mother announced.
Joshua glared at Kendra, whose head now rests on his shoulder. He didn't wake her up instead he removed his shoulder fast which cause her head to hit almost hit the front seat chair.
"You could have just woken me up" She got down from the car and slapped his face.
"Whatchu slapped me for bitch?" an angry Joshua asked.
"You know what you did and never call.me bitch"
"Fuck you, you drooled on my shirt" he retorts back.
"Say fuck you again and I won't hesitate to hit you?"
"Fuck you" he Inched closer to her, but she moved back
"Coward" he mocked her.
"I wonder if you're truly a Sylvester or you were an exchange"
"That's's old, say something new sis"
"What's causing my grandkids to fight" Grandma Sylvia asked walking towards them.
All the while their parents said nothing while they carry their luggage inside the house.
"Are you both done getting at each other's throat" A man said and winked at them
"Uncle Connor" Kendra and Joshua ran to hug him
"I've missed you" Kendra said
"I missed you too my lovelies" he replied
"Joshua, learn to respect your sister" Uncle Connor warned.
"Hey cousin" Derrick greeted
"Hi Derrick" Kendra side hugged him "Where's Amy?" she asked
"Right behind you" the two girls squealed and embrace themselves.
"Look at my girls" Grandma Sylvia smiled
"Grams Syl you look beautiful as ever" Kendra complimented
"Oh my love, thank you" She pats her cheek.
"it's a shame Grandpa didn't wait long to see this beauty" Amy said and hugged Grandma Sylvia from the back.
"Don't mind him" she chuckled.
"Dinner time" Kendra's mother announced.
