Chapter 1 - OSRIC BLACKWOOD: Let The Fun Begin

"Dam, my fingers are cramping up," I whisper.

My delicate hands aren't for 6 hours of typing.

"I swear this job is going to be my death bed."

I truly despise this job, but I need it for my lovely project. It's expensive as it is worth it. I built it from the ground up. No one will enjoy it but me, of course.

"Heheheheh- *Cough Cough* I need some water."

I got up from my chair, which is the most uncomfortable seat in the world. My lower back and sore buttocks can definitely agree. Oh, and this suit, don't get me started on this shitty suit.

On the way to the water dispenser, my thoughts went everywhere, from this god-forsaken job to the pretty lady that runs a nearby restaurant.

There is a stack of paper cups on the machine. I took one and filled it up with water. I drink it all in one gulp because the flimsy cups will crumble in my hands if I don't. I stay by the water dispenser even after throwing away my cup. I call this my water break. I get water then, don't go back for at least 10 minutes.

I have many breaks. I got my bathroom breaks which are 30 mins each. I rarely go to the bathroom to actually use it. I got my lunch break. I eat my food 15 mins before my real 'lunch break.' Then when it's really my 'lunch break,' I go to my car to sleep. I also got something called a coworker break. I get uncomfortable around the people who say, "We never see people like you around here," so I-.

Heavy, sluggish steps interrupt my thoughts.

This man only shows up when you don't want him. I don't need another 'talk' about work ethics, so I walk back to my desk. My back started hurting immediately after sitting down. It's like my back is allergic to this dam chair.

"Back to typing," I said with a sigh.

—---------------

Thank the lord. It's time to clock out. I dodge every coworker skillfully since I am not trying to start a conversation. I did my typical 'clock out' stuff and rushed out. Once that fresh air hit me, I was in heaven. I saw cars flashing by and buildings embracing the clouds. The view is way better than the computer I've been typing away on. I slowly walked to my car, appreciating the breeze.

I got in my BMW. As soon as I sat down, " Ooo, this seat is better than the one at my desk."

But rip to my boy Joseph. In the corner of my eye, I saw he got caught up by one of those coworkers. "At least it ain't me," I laughed. As I start the engine, I went through channels until it was on my preferred podcast.

With that, I drove off into the distance...

Well, I got home quickly. I mean, maybe I was speeding. After I got in, I placed my keys in a bowl. I do my routine. Then, put on some comfy clothes.

I make my way to the back of the house, where a stairway to the basement is. As I walk down the stairs, I make sure not to trip or place my feet on the broken board, which I have yet to fix. At the base of the staircase is a brown door with a keypad. I put in my 4-digit password then it vibrates before letting me through.

I flip the switch on the wall.

As the light flickered on, my VR POD displayed itself. It sits in the middle of the room with wires connecting it and the wall. I took deliberate steps for the sake of not walking on any cord. I clicked a small yellow button on the side of the pod. Slowly it opens with an all-black inside. The only pop of color is my VR helmet with a large, green cable connecting it to the pod.

Not as cool as you expected, huh?

Chop Chop, I immediately get in and put on my VR helmet.

[Ready To Start?] Says the machine in an ambiguous voice.

"Yes!"

—--------------------------------------

With that confirmation, he left this world.
