Chapter 135 - Dreams & Voices

"Woah! Hey who what now?" Night suddenly screamed out inside Samuels head, so loud in fact that he tried to cover his ears to no avail since the voice was coming from within.

"Stop shouting!" Samuel angrily whispered.

"No matter, I am returning to my sleep now." Leumas voice slowly dropped off with each word he spoke.

Samuel felt something that was stirring on the inside suddenly calm down and almost go to sleep.

"The wolf fell asleep." Samuel sighed - but he realized that wasn't entirely true, it felt more like a part of him fell asleep.

"I guess we really are one and the same..."

"Sorry Night, that was just the wolf part of me that you heard!"

"I am not quite sure how it works myself. There is a lot left to figure out, as If I never run out of things."

Speaking those words he remembered everything he had found inside the mindscape. All the new things he had learned, the only thing left on his mind was the question 'Why?'

Night looked at Samuels memories when he remembered them and remained silent.

But Samuel could feel her turmoil and had to ask. "Whats wrong?" But he only received silence in turn. "Night?"

He kept asking for a while before she sighed loudly and yelled. "Aaaaaugh FINE!" Her sudden outbursts didn't help Samuels mood.

"I didn't want to say anything before being certain but... I remember that Astral elven woman you met, I don't know from where. But I am certain I remember her, maybe from my past life or just a face somewhere..."

Samuel let her vent her thoughts and remained quiet for a while before answering, "I am certain we can find the answers sometime. But being angry or annoyed about it won't help!"

"I know that you know as well as I do..." Before he could finish he heard Night scoff and then the connection went quiet.

Samuel tried for a while to talk to her but she remained stubborn and shut him out.

With a defeated sigh he finally decided to face the day, surprised to see Vazmarx still snoring the morning away he quickly flicked some water magic at him.

He instantly shot up looking like he was getting attacked before looking around and finding nothing except for Samuel looking at him with a frown.

"Oh come on!" Vazmarx spoke in his grovely voice. But he saw that the sun was up and gave up. "Alright alright, I'll get up!"

"Had a good sleep?" Samuel asked with a grin, to which Vazmarx let out a small mocking laughter. "Yeah, but could have been better!" He finally replied.

The two got out of the tent and saw most of the camp being on the verge of waking or being awake already, most students had already started their mornings.

People were not doing much though, because of the lockdown that was probably in effect, which meant most of them were sitting around or talking amongst eachother.

"Think we need to wake the lovebirds?" Vazmarx grinned while nodding his head to their teammates tent that was only a few meters away from their own.

Samuel quickly walked over to check, he peeked a small look inside after making a tiny opening and saw Vuldara and Zalbas snuggled together - still asleep.

He quietly stepped back to Vaz and shook his head. "Nah let them sleep, we can check out what is going on and get something to eat!"

Samuel felt tired, traversing the mindscape was not anything like sleeping, it gave his body rest for sure. But his mind did a lot of work during that time.

He had worked up enough of an appetite between recent events, so the two of them quickly went to get some food.

It wasn't hard to find a small temporary food area that had been established where food was being served. Samuel and Vazmarx heard a lot of students whispering rumors about what was going on, seemingly most of them had been kept in the dark.

But they managed to get some food and also learned that the lockdown would be lifted later that day... Probably.

Samuel really felt that his tired mind was kicking in and he felt a headache starting to blossom. But they got enough food for Zalbas and Vuldara as well before returning to them.

To a happy surprise they were both awake and were seated outside on some log branches they had pulled up the previous night. Zalbas raised a hand to greet his friends.

Vazmarx gave the two a devilish grin the moment he saw them and the both of them blushed when they saw him, but Samuel tapped his friends shoulder which made him drop the grin.

Bringing the food to their friends. They shared a slightly embarrasing silence as they ate, Samuel smiled at his friends often but even after he ate some food the headache didn't fade.

"Well, my head is hurting too much... Unless something important happens then please let me get some sleep!" The others nodded. "Get some sleep! I will keep an eye on things!" Vazmarx responded.

"Alright! Will do!" Samuel stumbled away to bed and lay down and fell asleep right away, falling into a dream shortly thereafter.

A large platform in the sky amid thundering booms.

Clouds were plenty about trying to hide the platform made out of a material that looked like white marble.

Ancient statues stood tall on the platform that hovered in the sky. When looking down Samuel realized it was a long way down, he realized the platform must be magically enchanted to fly.

Otherwise there was no way it would just be hovering in the skies. Samuel couldn't control much, his body was jerked in whatever direction without control. He could only twist and turn to look around.

Shooting into the sky he flew past the platform and saw several people... They looked to be fighting, some were dressed like warriors or adventurers while the others were dressed like... Darkor Cultists.

When he turned his head to the left and saw past some of the statues, his blood froze. The darkest creature emerged from a dark gateway at the end of the platform.

It looked like someone had created this dark magical gate, what Samuel saw come out of the gate would probably have made anyone freeze up.

Two huge black wings protruding from a fallen celestial covered in black robes and armor. But it wasn't just the appearance alone, but the magnitude of the aura protruding from the fallen celestial.

The magic pressure made Samuel suffocate as he tried to run away. But his body would not respond to his commands, as the trading of blows continued.

The warriors did not give up even with the appearance of this creature. Samuel looked at them and tried to put their looks to his memory, most of them looked like humans.

Sudden sparks of yellow lightning broke the aura that seemed to lock Samuel in place, he turned in the direction at the magic he remembered so well and saw Alsian.

He was one of the figures fighting against the cultists. He was way in the back providing supportive magic to his allies in the front.

A sudden fire vortex shot out at the adventurers. The warriors mostly escaped away unharmed from the fire, all except Alsian who ended up being in its center.

Everything burned as Samuel extended his hand to save his older cousin. He tried to scream, as everything seemed to turn into ash.

It was enough to wake him up as he sat up with a scream and activating magic in his hand, prepared to shoot it out.

Someone was screaming his name, he couldn't quite figure out where it came from but the opening to the tent flung open and Vuldara was there.

"Samuel! Are you okay? I heard screaming!"

She asked him, her voice came out muffled as the world started spinning, Samuel buried his head in his hands.

For moments he only heard the heavy breaths and focused on it. The headache was still there, but more mellow.

Vuldara entered the tent and placed a hand on his shoulder and shook him gently. "Im fine, I'll be fine..." He groaned. "Just a bad dream."

She sat next to him for a while before speaking, "Alright! Just tell me if you need anything. I will be outside." She said in a low tone.

She walked out of the tent again but turned back around, "Oh and by the way! The other two have gone to check out the situation, apperantely we are allowed to leave any moment now."

Samuel sighed but gave her a thumbs up. While she walked away - he lay back down to rest his head that was still hurting.

He quietly started coughing, until it grew into a more frequent cough.

It took a while before he realized he had to throw up, he turned around and opened a quick hole in the ground with some magic.

Black tar and goo like substance, mixed with whatever food he had eaten before. He threw up for a good while before there was nothing left.

He let out a big sigh of relief as he lay on his side, quickly casting some magic to bury the hole as if nothing had ever happened.

"Been a while since I threw up any of that black goo shit..." He couldn't help but groan.

But as an instant relief, the headache was completely gone, leaving him exhausted once more it wasn't long before sleep came to him once more.
