Chapter 114 - Never Stop

Once again finding himself inside the house that now only had two occupants made him feel a a bit calmer. He spent his time alone doing physical exercise and cleaning, everything he could to keep himself occupied.

Night was quiet and let him do his own thing as she just lay around resting. Several hours passed and Samuel didn't seem to notice, in fact he kept going non stop until finally someone knocked at the door before opening it.

Sonya stepped in looking a bit happier than before, "Good job!" Was the first thing she said and Samuel turned her direction wondering what she meant. She clutched her fists together and held them on her stomach, trying her best not to roll her thumbs.

"The speech you gave apparantely worked. They made the announcement out loud, and Tere'he heard it from her cousin. Then she told me, Bregane is being released and they are both coming here..." She took a step forward and her nose flinched slightly, "But you should clean yourself up before that!" She said and pointed at Samuel who was drenched in sweat.

He looked down and raised his hands, "Yeah you're right!" Samuel quickly went about getting himself cleaned up properly. Making sure to clean and dry his clothes at the same time, and when he finally rejoined downstairs both Bregane and Tere'he were seated at the dinnertable.

Bregane looked up at Samuel when he came down the stairs, "Helluva speech kid, almost a unanimous vote from the judges, all voted in my favor except for one that didn't vote for either side."

"The admiral in question has been demoted to regular sailor. I have earned myself a few punishments myself though, but nothing I can't handle... so for now let us just cele-"

Bregane shook his head and brushed a hand over his face! "Ah fuck, what is there even to celebrate for fucks sake. There is nothing more than a huge fucking mess and a bunch of bullshit."

Samuel nodded in agreement as Sonya sat down in front of the two mentors, with a sigh he looked at the kitchen and quickly went about preparing a meal as Bregane sat in silence at the table.

In fact the only sounds that could be heard was from Samuel making food for all of them, the other three sat in silence. Even when Samuel had made them all some delicious food, potatoes, steaks and sallad with a nice sauce.

They barely touched the food, Samuel would be disappointed if it wasn't the same for him, he could find no appetite to eat so much that he had made. None of them could look eachother in the eyes as they all just stared blankly at their food.

Samuel made sure to clean everything up and store whatever food remained, he even went ahead and did all the dishes, but as he filled up the water in the sink and he cut himself on a knife, he saw the blood droplets dye the water.

Just like the beaches turned red by all the blood, thats when his knees buckled from the pressure. He slowly slid down the kitchen sink as he felt the tears finally flow free, he had tried so hard to hold them in.

He had tried so hard not to curse his own ability to not die, thinking that instead of taking his life it took the lives of those precious to him. Tere'he couldn't hold it in either and also started crying and Sonya smiled in sadness.

Bregane just hugged Tere'he, and Sonya didn't let Samuel suffer alone as she quickly walked over and bent down and hugged his back and let loose some of her own sorrow.

After many sorrows and all of them talking about the two they had lost, what they liked the most to do during their free time. What types of food was their favourite and what their best qualities were, they could finally smile a little bit when thinking about the two they had lost.

The evening went on and finally Sonya opened up, as she had been the most quiet. "I intend to quit the college!" She spoke and everyone looked at her in shock, "Thats not what those we lost would have wanted for you!" Bregane tried to convince her.

But Sonya just shook her head and smiled, "I know, and I do not intend to give up, I just need to take a year to myself. I will come back eventually and complete my studies!" She looked at the others and sighed. "I have already spoken to my father about it, It's already done! I just came tonight to say goodbye, and to tell you to never give up!" She turned to Samuel as she said the last sentance.

"You can do this! I believe in you alright! Besides, if you need me I won't be far! All you need to do is call for me and I will come running!" She grabbed Samuel's hand and he took it with both his hands. "Perhaps it is for the best!" He smiled and closed his eyes, "I will do just fine on my own!"

"Except we won't leave you alone!" Tere'he spoke and looked at him, finally looking at someone with conviction and strength again, "We will be here for you, always!" Bregane and Tere'he nodded.

In a sense they were much like parents, Samuel gave them both a nod and sighed. "I wish you well! Sonya Excavar Boo! I hope to see you sitting high one day in the future, and I will return the favor, If you ever need help from your best friend - then all you need to do is call for me!"

"No matter where I am in the world I will come running!" He clenched her hand tight when speaking and she stood up and gave him a hug. "Thank you so much! For everything!"

After a while she ended the hug and after hugging both mentors and gathering the last of her things she took her leave and left an eerie silence hanging.

"So do I get to keep the house to myself?" Samuel asked after a few minutes of silence, he had turned around to his mentors with a smile and both of them started chuckling at the cheekiness of the young man.

"Of course! But will you be alright on your own?" Bregane spoke and Samuel couldn't help but smile. "Didn't you hear? I have my own faction, so I am never truly alone!" The words about never being alone were aimed in another direction at the same time.

Both the mentors looked surprised and looked at eachother and nodded, "Very well then!" Tere'he said. "I hope you won't mind, but we will be taking our leave for the night then!" She spoke with a smile as gentle as a summer breeze.

Samuel gave her nod. "Take care of yourselves, I promise I will be alright!" And with those wordse the evening became quiet as Samuel was left by himself, almost. But only almost, he turned to look at Night and smiled.

"Guess we're better off going to bed huh?" He asked and she nodded, "Yeah I think you need it!" She held her head high and looked proud as usual. "Yeah! I think you're right!" He said with tired eyes and didn't remember the rest of the night after slowly walking up the stairs and finding his bed.

But he did wake up without any clothes on. Over the next coming days several of Samuel's faction members came over to offer their condolences and just hang out and plan things. Now that he lived 'alone' in his house there was nothing stopping his faction from using it as a place to hang out.

Which was completely fine, it livened things up a little bit, something that Samuel was happy about. He had his times when he needed his quiet but it was easy for things to get loud when the others were hanging around.

Many days were spent with Samuel training his ass off, wether it was magic or physical training, he also started sparring with Zalbas and Markar, the three of them had a lot to learn from eachother when it came to hand to hand and combining magic with it.

It took some time for him to get back into studies, but eventually his desire to learn magic came crawling back and he started his studies again, and with that many weeks came to pass as he never stopped.

Life continued and he learned to become even stronger. Walking forward now surrounded by many others, he took great interest in reading magical history and learning as much as he could.

No missions were due in a long time and since he no longer had a team it wouldn't be any difficult missions anyway, but he did also notice during the few candidate classes he attended that his team wasn't the only one reduced, several others seemed to be missing as well.

Probably others had also died because of carelessness in the early days.
