Chapter 89 - Not Holding Back - Part 1

Samuel saw all the incoming ice drakes and quickly prepared himself, 'Gravity Center' & 'Supreme Flight' his two own spells were renewed and he was ready, for a showdown where he would no longer be holding back.

He would use every part of his training, everything he had learned from others or by himself. This was the time to fight and not care about anything else than defeating his foes and helping his friends and teachers.

"Night!" He quickly spoke her name, "Yessss!" She hissed back and Samuel smiled, "Time to go serious and kill fucking every enemy!" He said and Night grinned, "Finally!" She vibrated in anticipation as shadowy smoke started surrounding his body.

"I will watch your every angle, master!" Her voice spoke from all around him and he smiled, glad to have such a reliable battle partner. The last six months training Samuel had also brought more attention to Night to see what she could actually do.

They had worked on their teamwork and Samuel figured out that she was best in a supportive role, because of their symbiotic relationship she could not actually take a lot of damage from hits, in fact she barely felt anything.

But she could feel Samuel's pain because of their connection. Every time he was hit she felt it fully, which meant that she could use her shadow body to block almost anything without worry, she only had a problem against radiant and sun energies.

Any damage she took Samuel could also feel of course, their connection allowed that much at least. He had read enough about it to understand that it was some sort of soulbond that bound them together. But Night still could not remember anything of importance from her past.

The horde of flying ice golems quickly apporached and Samuel smiled, "Time to try out our best!" He reared his body before flying upwards and then forward, the golems didn't even seem able to register where his presence had gone.

They were simply too slow, so with his phoenix fire sword he quickly flew back and forth and quickly started cutting them asunder, his magical sword cut through them like a molten knife through butter.

They were barely able to react and by the time the elementals started reacting they had already been reduced by half, unfortunately even then they were not fast enough to counteract him except for shooting ice projectiles all around.

Guessing where he could be and hoping for a lucky hit Samuel shook his head from high above and swung his sword. 'Fire Birds' Several birds of fire leaped from his sword and they flew straight down into the mass of remaining golems causing several explosions.

When the heated water fog cleared, there were no more ice golems. He had destroyed all of the ones in the immeadiate area, "Hah, you probably just destroyed like 200 of them!" Night sounded proud and happy.

Samuel was about to reply when a sudden chill appeared and a loud growl was heard. Sitting a top the mostly ruined fort was a big ice dragon that looked up directly at Samuel. "So you are the one that did this? Impressive for a mere child. But now you face me!" The booming voice of the dragon growled very loudly.

Otherwise Samuel wouldn't have been able to hear it with the distance. If it was several months ago he would have kept his promise to Tere'he and ran when he saw the dragon, but now he smiled. "I am no longer that same innocent boy." He spoke to himself and exhaled slowly.

"Let's go kill a fucking dragon!" Samuel spoke with a grin that Night also had on her face. He quickly stowed away his staff and grabbed both his blades instead, dual blade style spell casting. He had only tried it a few times, but he knew he could do it.

The dragon reared back and opened it's wings almost as if inviting him in for a challenge as it started flapping its wings to fly up to Samuel's level. Samuel simply waited giving it courtesy enough because unbeknowst to the dragon Samuel had a much bigger chance at dealing damage to it when it was in the air.

"Come then!" The dragon roared, the dragon had an arrogant dragon grin on it's face that instantly disappeared when it realized where Samuel was currently located. 'How can this be? How can a human be this fast at flying?' The dragon instantly thought as it looked down at Samuel that was right in front of its chest.

'Double Flame Rend!' Samuel's voice echoed inside his mind as both swords were channeled with the full element of fire, the phoenix blade at least twice as strong as the other blade when it came to channeling strong fire.

He swung the swords in an x shape and an X shaped fire slash instantly flew out and hit the dragon right on its chest. The dragon instantly screamed in pain as it was sent flying backwards, carried by the force of the slash that was still ongoing.

It kept going and going until, boom. It had hit the mountaintop above the fort. Colliding with the mountain sent quakes far and wide. "Night enchant the blades!" Samuel screamed as he didn't give his opponent time to react. Dragons were proud and arrogant most of the time, which was why he had managed to inflict such a strong first strike.

"Underestimating me will be the last thing this dragon does!" Samuel smiled and held out both his blades toward the smokey clouds surrounding him that was Night, she inhaled and then exhaled black void flames that surrounded both the swords.

They were now burning in a black void energy as Samuel took them back into a fighting position. His spells carried him forward extremely fast. "Look out!" Night quickly warned him and he stopped instantly and created several shockwaves as he suddenly flew upward instead.

Where he had been seconds earlier a long breath beam of pure ice and cold cut through the air. The dragon flapped both its wings and got rid of all the smoke surrounding it, looking extremely pissed off to see that it had missed and looked up to instantly find him again.

It was indeed a dragon, because it could sense where he went pretty damn fast. "I am cold hatred, I am the winter storm, I am unbridled ice!" The dragon roared in rage and it started walking forward before flapping its wings and flying below Samuel again.

Now the fort was directly below the dragon, Samuel smiled. Just like planned, 'Darkness Rend, Fire Scorch, Lightning Direct' His enchantment magic surrounded his weapons in a mixture of elemental power as he instantly dove straight down.

Allowing the gravity of his spell carry him towards the earth with great force as well, the dragon felt him approaching earlier this time and almost did a 90 degree turn by one strong wing stroke that reared its body upwards with another ice breath at the ready.

"Oh no you don't!" Night laughed and the shadows surrounding Samuel turned into a huge mass of living shadow that took the shape of a dragon, that shot out a beam of darkness infused lightning to match Samuel's immense speed.

Night's beam reached the dragon almost instantly and met the ice breath right as it was leaving the ice dragons mouth. Causing the ice dragon to suddenly become stunned from the lightning while the darkness removed any of the ice breath.

In one last look of terror the dragon saw a shadow dragon grinning behind the human mage whom instantly collided with the full force of impact into the dragon sending them both crashing down into the fort.

Samuel used the dragon as a cushion as his blades sunk deep into the dragons chest, sending fire, lightning and darkness mixed with void flames directly into the dragon. The dragon could only gasp in pain as it took its last breath before it broke all bones in its back and wings from colliding with every floor down to the lowest chamber where its lich master was currently fighting.

One might call it symbolic that the final thing that broke the dragons back was its own treasure horde, but Samuel did not care for any of that as he just wiped away all of the dragon blood that had spurted into his face.

As he looked up into the big hole left behind all the way down he dragged his swords out and held them up in victory and screamed his lungs out. He was no longer the same useless kid that had watched his village burn.

He then took a look into the room as he remembered why he was there, he saw his allies and friends mostly freed and fighting a LICH, a fucking LICH of all things. Samuel did not waste time as he reared his knees back before flying forward with great speed with both swords aimed directly at the lich.

He had left only a mess of debris and blood mixed with treasure from the dragons corpse and he realized that a lich was definitely a more dangerous foe, so he quickly acted to help his team.
