The rest of the group had had no idea of the events that took place and Alsian and Triss wanted to keep it that way, but Sonya and Erica understood something had happened from their serious faces, and if they had realized so had their mentors.
Alsian and Triss waited for the group to move on and close the door before they told Vazal the headmaster - everything that had happened. He sat there with wide eyes the whole time and made sure to take some notes in one of his many books. When they were finally done retelling everything Vazal sighed. "I am glad my daughter has the opportunity to be in a group with those not too different from herself. They will be able to help her when the time comes. I just hope they will be able to. I am also glad that both the two have survived, these are interesting and trying times, so a little bit of leniency will haveto do. We can't let these things blow out of proportion, so as you both know already... these things stay between us!" He stood up from his desk towering over them both.
"Clear?" He asked and they both replied at the same time, "Crystal!" Which allowed Vazal to sigh again, "Now then please keep a continued eye on them, but other than that! Would my friends care to join me for some food?" The headmaster gave them a smile and they all shared a nice meal together like friends would.
Sonya was surprised that no one else was up and about when they got back. Around this time Samuel would usually make food for them and they would be enjoying a nice evening as friends. Perhaps what had happened had really shaken them up and both of them just wanted to be alone, Erica was about to go knock on their doors but Sonya stopped her by grabbing her shoulder and shaking her head.
"They will come when they are ready! So how about we go get something to eat at the canteen instead. They need some space anyway!" Sonya was tired but also hungry and smart enough to know things like these took time.
Together the two girls went to the canteen and were gone for almost two hours. Spending most of their time in silence or complaining about the rought training with Wiz'zoma. Their mentors had gotten used to it now which proved their prowess. If only they had been outside they would have seen Triss and Ulma coming back, but alas their training was inside the huge treehouse.
"Do you think things will be ok?" Erica worriedly asked when they were finally on their way back, nothing cleared ones head as a nightsky walk and talk. Sonya smiled, "Eventually! But don't get your hopes up so soon. These things take time, once my mother dumped my father for a month. He had spent so much time working that she claimed he neglected her and all of my siblings and me."
"Now they were officially married of course and she never broke that trust, but she certainly let him have it for quite some time, until she couldn't take it anymore. She missed him too much and asked him to come home. They spent a whole week away on vacation after that, doing the gods know what." Sonya shuddered at the thought of her parents.
But she continued the story anyway. "My father apologized and ever since then he started spending several days a month coming home from work. My mother is also very busy with her work, but she almost like literally works from home!" Sonya sighed as happy memories flashed by.
"Your mother the greatest ice witch?" Erica asked curiosly and Sonya nodded. "Thats the one!" Sonya couldn't help but grin out of pride. "My father is the best lightning and thunder mage and my mother is the best at ice, I was literally born to be destructive." Sonya winked and started laughing at her own joke shortly followed by Erica who couldn't help herself.
The mood quickly lightened for them, they would be there for their teammates if and when they needed them. But otherwise they would focus on their own studies. The next day over was a day off after all, which meant a whole day of studying for the both of them.
Meanwhile: Ulma had been plagued by nightmares ever since she had been put in her bed, the flashes of fire and blood staining the forests, all the twisted dead faces. But at the end of the nightmare it was no longer her falling into pools of death and blood, instead it was replaced with Samuel lying there dying and her self loathing.
She went in and out of the nightmares until they finally woke her up. She was mentally and physically exhausted but still managed to struggle herself to her feet, the fear in her heart overcame her exhaustion though and she went to Samuel's door and raised her fist to knock on it when someone grabbed her hand.
Sonya and Erica had come back home, with Erica quickly going to bed while Sonya had remained awake and finished tidying up some leftover mess in the kitchen and common area. When she finally went up to go to her room she saw Ulma coming out of her room, almost completely naked - nothing but pants on and holding a pillow in her hand, she slowly walked to Samuel's door and raised her hand to knock when Sonya intercepted her hand by grabbing it.
Ulma almost yelped in sudden fear thinking the nightmares came real, but Sonya eased her grip and made a small magical light reveal her face. Sonya had been outraged at first, how dare this girl who had yelled and made Samuel so miserable go to him for comfort, Sonya was well aware of the nightmares that plagued Ulma. She wasn't stupid or naive, Ulma had always been a pain in the ass and looked tired, but after she started sleeping together with someone she had become a new person.
Sonya's anger dissipated the moment she saw Ulma's face, she was exhausted, and the fact that she had been crying was obvious. So instead of yelling at Ulma she suddenly hugged her tightly. "We are your teammates, not your enemies! We are here for eachother!" She whispered into Ulma's ear and Ulma started sobbing quietly and hugged Sonya back.
Sonya remained like that for a few minutes before leaning back and taking Ulma's face in her hands. "However, what you did can't be forgiven by you sobbing to him when he is weak. It would be cruel and selfish of you! He has to be the one to ask you back, not the other way around after what you did. Understand?" Sonya came across as a harsh mother, but she spoke the truth.
Tears started streaming down Ul's face as she looked the half devilkin half dragonkin in the eyes. She knew that Sonya was right, but she was scared. Sonya saw that fear, "If you simply need someone to keep you safe, ask me until then! Alright?" Sonya asked and saw Ulma's disbelief, so she simply guided Ulma by the shoulders back to her room and put her in her bed before laying down next to her.
"If you tell anyone I do this for you! I will murder you though! Got it?" Sonya asked as she hugged Ulma again. Ulma slowly nodded and quickly fell asleep. It wasn't the same kind of comfort like Samuel's at all, but it was enough to keep the nightmares at bay.
Once morning came and they all woke up to a day of studying Sonya made sure no one was around when she exited Ulma's room and she quickly went and got changed. Ulma woke up tired but knew she had studying to do, even if things from the day before were tearing her apart from inside she knew she had to follow Sonya's advice otherwise she might blow it forever.
Together the three girls spent the entire day studying. Ulma had apologized to them both sincerely this time and they had swept it under the rug, and the three girls had a lot of fun studying together the whole day.
But all three of them were worried when by late evening, Samuel still had not shown himself. He had made sure to cast a magical lock on his door with the little strength he could muster. The rest of that entire day, he spent either sleeping or throwing up the black tar like substance.
Too exhausted to do anything else.
