Samuel fell over on his back as he tried his best to dodge the attack, with his right eye he saw another bandit that was half burned come towards him with a sword and raise it to strike at him when he was down. Samuel prepared to block as best he could but his vision impaired he knew it wasn't going to end well, this was probably how we would die.
'Fuck sake.'
If it wasn't for the sudden jerk from the bandit and the dagger that stuck through his throat, he collapsed forward next to Samuel with gurgling noises of drowning in his own blood and lay there with wide eyes. Samuel quickly looked at him and then up to see who had saved him.
Ulma had ran into the room together with Erica and Sonya, and she saw the destructive power that Sonya caused upon them and was horrified of the screams, fire and screaming reminded her all too well of her own past, seeing her home on fire and people dying all around.
But she was snapped out of it when she saw Samuel fighting against the bandits, she also saw a shade like creature flying outside the fire heading towards Samuel that just about finished off the four bandits, "Watch out Sam!" She screamed, suddenly terrified of the thought of losing him, someone who shared the same kind of pain that she could open up to.
When she saw him fall over her heart stuck in her throat and she quickly started running down the right staircase. When she reached the bottom she saw him still struggling on the ground which gave her relief, but that relief was very short lived as another bandit stumbled out of the outskirts of the fireball and instantly headed to finish off Samuel.
Faster than she had ever ran before she reached the bandit first and instinct guided her hand as she plunged her dagger through the mans throat, with heavy breaths she let go of the dagger in shock and simply stood there horrified by what she had done as she saw the bandit lie there... gurgling to death.
Samuel quickly tried to sit up which made Ulma worry more about him than anything else, she sat down in front of him and with shaky hands she recited a quick healing spell on Samuels eye. Samuel still could not see because of all the blood, but supporting eachother they both stood up to see the aftermath of Sonya's spell, every piece of wood and cloth was on fire and there were several charred bodies.
There were also an additional body at the left staircase where Erica had casted several spells to kill, both Erica and Sonya ran down to join the other two, to their shock both the spellcaster and the bandit leader were both dead, both of them had twisted facial expressions of something taking them by surprise.
There were no signs of any more bandits around except for a little bit of movement, they were all still on their guard, checking that no one else was coming. They saw the movement as one of the bandits who was almost completely charred was crawling away just wheezing. Samuel knew none of them could heal such injuries without risking themselves in this dangerous scenario, because it would take all four of them and all their remaining magic most likely.
Which they needed to defend themselves. "What are you doing?" Erica asked in shock horror when Samuel walked over and steeled his blade. "Putting him out of missery and pain." Samuel coldly replied and drove the blade to where the heart should be. With one last exhale of death it was done and Samuel could sigh.
He noticed his teammates looking at him with mixed expressions. Ulma was mostly relieved but also terrified, while Erica looked at him in horror and Sonya gave him an understanding look and nod. Samuel noticed how she was horrified by what her magic had done but she still stood strong staying in control.
"You three stay here and keep a check on the general area and I will quickly check out that there is no one remaining!" Samuel said to them and tried removing his own blood that had covered his eye. Realizing he could see slightly with his eye again he gave another sigh of relief, it meant that he had not lost his eye.
Samuel proceeded to check out the other passageways and found them all to be empty except for various loot and food and scraps. There was nothing of use that they were entitled too, so he quickly returned to his teammates and didn't find them. The Rejuan rangers instead had moved in, there were at least ten of them that were just about beginning to sweep the area clean, Bregane had arrived with them as well.
The minute Bregane saw Samuel he waved him over and when reached him Bregane instantly grabbed his clothes and used a dimensional gate four times in a row to bring them all the way back to the clearing they had arrived, and the moment he arrived he threw Samuel off balance making him fall to the ground and land on his ass.
He quickly looked around confused at the treatment when he saw his mentors sitting with their apprentices, they had all been covered in blankets and were visibly shaking while their mentors tried to calm and reassure them, it was much worse than Samuel had anticipated. Sonya was the one doing the best, just about returning to taking deep breaths and long exhales to calm herself.
Samuel took a deep breath himself and started standing back up. He was quickly sent to the ground again as Bregane gave him a right hook straight in the face. "Why the fuck would you go exploring alone when your teammates obviously needed you!" Bregane snarled at him and picked him up by the collar. Ready to give him another punch.
Samuel was still in a daze from the first one when he finally remembered the fire and his cold blooded executions, he quickly pushed away from Bregane and walked over to the treeline and proceeded to throw up everything that was in his stomach, and as soon as he was done he fell backwards landing on his ass again. He dragged himself backwards a little bit before turning around.
He looked at Bregane who stood there looking at him with a softer expression as his anger had subsided. "Sorry I did not notice, I was..." Samuel couldn't find the words to finish the sentance and just looked down in shame. While Bregane was cursing himself, he wasn't that angry at Samuel so much as himself for underestimating the bandits that somehow had gotten the aid of a spellcaster, which had forced him to intervene.
"No! You all did great!" Bregane sighed, "I am sorry!" He said while extending his hand to help pull Samuel up. "Let's go back home!" Bregane smiled at him and together the mentors helped bring their students back home after a bit of calming them enough for them to walk.
"We are going to excuse you from tomorrows classes. So enjoy another day off and relax the best you can. If you want to be kept busy come to us instead of class!" Tere had told them all before teleporting back home.
