The party went smoothly, and all the citizens of Versipellis rejoiced with their new queen.
Elisia was on the balcony of the tallest tower, looking at the citizens shouting with joy. The colourful confetti was dancing through the air as the air balloons dropped them from the sky.
She sighed. If only she was really the Queen, maybe she would be sincerely happy with what was in front of her.
"Do you enjoy hearing those cheers?"
She frowned when she saw a woman walking toward her. She was dressed in black clothing and even her make-up was black.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"You don't need to know who I am, princess."
Princess? Did the woman know who she was? Elisia thought to herself.
"Yes. I know who you truly are. You are the youngest daughter of the former Demon King Asmodeus and Queen Lilith. The only princess who was never allowed to train by her father."
Elisia was stunned. How did she know about it? Did Thane tell her? She heard the woman chuckle, making Elisia irritated.
"What do you want?" She asked.
"Don't get mad, princess. I'm here to warn you."
"Warn me? Who the hell are you? And how did you know me?" She frowned.
"Again, it's not important to know who I am." The woman answered.
Elisia tried to ignore her, but the woman's presence made her uncomfortable. She glared at the woman and saw her walking around the tower.
"Fine. Just tell me what it is?" Elisia impatiently asked again since it looked the woman would not leave her alone.
The woman nodded. "On the next blood moon, darkness will devour the werewolf king. A life for a life, a soul for a soul. Only the one bounded to the king can stop it."
"Bounded? Do you mean his mate? Why are you telling me this?"
"You are the one on his side. If you are not the woman fated to His Majesty, you will be the cause of his death."
Elisia was surprised. She knew she wasn't his fated one, but why would it bother her? The woman said she would be the cause of Thane's death. That was the plan, right? The sole purpose of her existence on the king's side was to find a way to kill him.
"Who are—" She frowned when suddenly, the woman was nowhere to be found.
Elisia looked around the tower but she was not there anymore. Then she heard footsteps from the stairs. She thought it was that woman again, but it was Mia.
She let out a deep breath, showing Mia her irritation.
"What now?" She asked.
"Who are you?"
Mia looked drunk. She was so red and walked toward her, swaying. Elisia stepped backwards. She didn't want to get close to Mia because Asra might wake up and attack the girl.
"What do you mean who am I? You know exactly who I am."
Mia laughed with sarcasm. "You were someone who His Majesty wanted to kill for a long and then all of a sudden, you became his queen? What kind of black magic did you use for the king to change his mind?"
He wanted to kill her? She didn't know about that but it was expected if it was true. She thought inwardly.
"Mia, you're drunk. Go to your room and rest." She ordered.
Mia giggled. "Oh, says who? You? Why would I listen to you? Oh! I know! Because you are the queen now, I have to obey your orders."
Mia's words were full of sarcasm and hate. Elisia knew the girl was in love with Thane, if only Mia knew that all of this was fake.
"Mia, I said go to your room and rest." She repeated.
"I'll go, but I want you to know that the king promised me that I will someday be his queen. He had a debt to pay. He could never break that promise."
After saying those words, Mia turned around and left Elisia.
She went to the balcony again. Two women came to her, just to tell her and make her realise that she was not the right woman for Thane.
"They don't need to tell it to my face. I already know that someday I would vanish into his life. What's their problem?" She ranted.
She sighed deeply, thinking of the things Mia and the other woman told her.
"That woman in black said Thane will be devoured by darkness on the next blood moon and it only meant the curse of Desideres will happen. She said a life for a life and a soul for a soul. That means, he has to kill again. But it can be stopped if he finds the right woman. He has to find his true mate to stop the curse." She whispered to herself.
"What are you mumbling about? You looked stupid talking to yourself."
She was startled when Thane suddenly appeared behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and then started kissing her on the neck.
"I-I saw a woman. She said something about the curse."
Thane frowned and stopped what he was doing. He turned her around to face him. Elisia knew he wanted her to continue.
"She said the curse will happen on the next blood moon and the only one who could stop you is your true mate."
"And who told you that?" Thane asked in a serious tone.
"A woman w-wearing a b-black dress. Her eye shadow and lipstick were also black. She looked like some rebellious emo teenager." She answered.
"She's not a teenager, she's a witch. And what she told you was the truth. But it would never happen."
Elisia frowned. "What do you mean?"
Thane took a sigh, then stood on the balcony, looking at the lands and borders of his territory.
"That witch told me to find my mate so I can be saved. But that's impossible because my mate died a few years ago when I was still in Mirrikh."
