"Excuse me, how dare…" The lady made a huge fuss.
"Lady Valen and Lord Valen, I apologize for not coming to greet you right away."
Mr. Kilga stepped out in front of Kilian and his mother bowing deeply as a sign of respect.
"Thank you for coming on such short notice, I know it was incredibly rude of me, but when I got these special items, my first thought was of course the Lady of the Archduke's family."
Kilian almost wanted to give a thumbs up, if only Mr. Kilga knew what it had meant.
They had not arrived for the sole purpose of getting items for his mother, but Mr. Kilga must have heard the commotion, and tried to give them face.
It worked, the ladies behind them let out gasps, and their fans were quickly opened to cover their faces.
Kilian gave Mr. Kilga a bright knowing smile, and Mr. Kilga returned it, knowing he had done well.
"Please mother, Mr. Kilga has prepared many items for you, they are all the newest styles, and are yet to be available in the store."
2 attendants from the store came up, and Ameria excitedly followed them to a side room.
Now when his mother was no longer there, Kilian removed the smile from his face and replaced it with a smirk, turning to the other ladies.
"Marquis Sonne… I see." He studied the now terrified faces they were trying to hide.
"I did not think a Marquis would be so lax in educating his daughter."
He turned on his heel and followed Mr. Kilga to their own room.
"I apologize for any inconvenience, this may have caused young Duke."
Kilian's eyebrow shot up.
'Now he calls me young Duke as well.'
He had not meant to be rude to one of his friend's customers, after all this was Mr. Kilgas's store, but it irked him the way his mother had been treated,d knowing it was his own fault for not addressing her needs sooner.
In this world the reputation of a lady was everything, and this could have started a bad rumor.
"No, I apologize for being rude to your customer."
Kilian said it, but did not mean it much, he still felt annoyed at the treatment his mother had received. She had had enough of that kind of ridicule for years at the Heathgraves.
"I will make sure, your mother is well taken care of."
Kilian nodded as thanks and tried to force his face back to a smile.
"So for the reason, you requested me to visit?" Kilian quickly changed the topic.
"Yes, of course. Regarding your items, you wished to sell, 70 percent has already been ordered and sent to their respective new owners."
Mr. Kilga laid out several papers, showing orders from many prominent noble families.
"We had to limit the purchases to 5 units per family, to be able to accommodate them all, besides keeping some in reserve for the royal family."
Mr. Kilga smiled, happy to say what came next.
"The total amount of earnings I would like to provide you with is this."
A piece of paper was laid on top of the rest, and Kilian wanted to whistle if it had not been rude, seeing a number he now understood to be quite significant for this world.
"If you are satisfied, then on top of this, the store wishes to give a good discount on any dresses or jewelry Lady Valen may require in the future."
Kilian pretended to look like he was thinking it over, but he had no reason to.
It was a good deal, even if they did not need a discount to be able to purchase what was needed, Kilian did like a good deal, and he knew the store would in return be known to dress the highest ranking woman in the country after the Queen.
"Is there a way to get more of these… feathers?"
Mr. Kilga most likely already knew the answer but the business man within had to ask.
"I do not know. Some of the knights in the North are currently trying to find clues as to where those creatures are, but we have heard no news." Kilian said truthfully
Kilian knew the Archduke had started an investigation, it was still unknown as to how the creatures had gotten all the way to the North unnoticed.
"Pity," was all Mr. Kilga replied.
They both enjoyed some refreshments that an attendant had brought, and Kilian left after a bit to join his mother.
His mother was gleaming in front of a large mirror, the pastel-colored yellow golden dress matched her hair, and her eyes sparkled along with a new necklace adorning her neck.
"You look stunning mother." He gave her a smile and noticed her ears.
"You can get new earrings to match." He mentioned.
"No." She hesitated, then continued.
"These are perfect."
His mother carefully touched the small pearl earrings Kilian had gifted her, and her smile beamed even more.
The two attendants squealed as if they were seeing a celebrity, and Kilian signed a document that was brought to him, so the expenses would be sent to the Valen residence.
He then took his mother's hand which was covered in a small fine satin glove with lace, and guided her to the store entrance.
Everyone there looked their way, and Kilian was happy he had chosen something simple to let his mother stand out even more.
Even if he was pretty as her, she shone brighter as they made their way to the carriage.
He faintly noticed a dark green color in the back of the store but ignored it.
They soon arrived at the residence, and Kilian helped the butler and servant to bring his mother's items inside.
He had never seen this many packages at once, but it made him smile. He was finally able to take care of the people who mattered to him.
It was a long way from the dark cold room and ragged clothes.
He set aside one of the packages and had someone bring it to his room. This one item was for someone else.
"I hope he will like it."
