The end had rather come very soon. The laptop was still open before Anaya, and she could hardly imagine how it was her better half. Her entire world came crashing down on her that day. The man Anaya thought was more than perfect was a completely different person. It had been 14 years now, of this Tom and Jerry they played, reviewing back to how it previously had been.
Anaya Oberoi was a simple yet a little sentimental girl who loved her profession. She lived with her family in Delhi. Like every other person, she too had a dream in her life. A dream which she had seen, along with every other person in her family. She wanted to be a style planner, the star fashioner of the design industry and after her schooling, she took admission in the impeccable Fashion Institute, Mumbai - 'the school which satisfies expectations, the school of her dreams.'
It resembled a dream world as expected for Anaya and eventually, the time was here when she began with her initial phase in college. She entered and got connected around the view, pursued with plenty of gazes, which really didn't make a difference to her in light of the fact that the fantasy she conveyed was to go with more gazes filled with a million questions. In any case, she kept on glancing around.
"Excuse me! Can you please tell me the way towards the Dean's office?"Anaya inquired.
'OMG! what an attractive person he is.' Someone murmured.
Anaya was on a standstill and seemed to be continuously looking at the man, lost in her own world. 'Would it be a good idea for me to converse with him? Will he talk to me? Would he be able to be my companion? I guess we'll see..' "Hey, where are you lost?"
"Goodness! Sorry, Dean's office?" She asked again as she snapped out of her thought bubble.
"Take the next left from the executive's office." Handsome Guy answered and left.
'Oh no! He hasn't told me his name.' She thought, 'Hah! Anyways..' She left looking for the Dean.
Anaya was simply strolling around, totally lost in her very own considerations. At that point just a minute away from where she was, her thoughts floated away, her mind froze and she stood still there, watching him again, somewhere in college, only this time, he was not alone.
She saw him with someone else. In spite of the fact that she was so eager and concentrated on her vocation, she made an effort not to consider such things that could divert her from her goals in life. Finally, she met the Dean of the college and examined a couple of things about her classes and hostel adjustments and later on moved towards her hostel room.
The next day, it was Anaya's first day in college and she was thrilled by the atmosphere of it. Anaya was a very simple and sophisticated girl until that particular day when everything changed as she was overpowered by a life she would appreciate, ignorant of the loathsome truth of life. She got her new hostel, new companions, new surprises and a new life altogether.
On the primary day of her college, she went for her classes of fashion designing with her new hostel friend Sagarika. The two of them were in the same class and sharing the same room, and turned out to be excellent partners in crime, just in a couple of days. She also met five other girls of Sagarika's group. Prof. Sharma entered the class and he introduced himself and took the introduction of every student one by one.
During the association, Anaya saw the same guy, who was hanging tight for somebody outside her class. She couldn't resist taking notes. He was so sweet and simple. His eyes were deep greyish, so honest, so blameless, so adorable that any girl could get attracted, and can swim like a water fairy. His lips were so red, so soft and supple. He somehow grew aware of her staring as he turned to her side and smirked, she turned flushed as she was caught staring.
Suddenly Sagarika looked at him and yelled, "Hey Ghunmay! What are you doing here? Wait, I'm coming."
Anaya got stuck for a moment. She continued taking a look at him over and over, yet couldn't say a solitary word before Sagarika. Sagarika hurriedly jumped from her bench and within a blink of an eye, she left for the canteen with Ghunmay.
'Ghunmay...A pleasant name sounds great.' Anaya chuckled.
While leaving for the canteen her roommate told Anaya to meet her after the lecture got over, however she overlooked and rather left for the hostel, wandering and thinking about Ghunmay in her room, she chose to ask her roommate, Sagarika about him.
Looking at the watch she realised that it's already 8'o'clock in the evening and up till now Sagarika hasn't returned to the room.As she was sitting alone by the window, flashbacks of her first meeting with Ghunmay flooded her mind. Anaya's body ignited at the thought of him. Suddenly Sagarika enters the room. She was all drunk and couldn't even stand straight.
"Sagarika, what's this, are you drunk? Look at yourself…" she yelled.
"Anaya you are too much! Please don't tell me what to do and what not to. I don't even allow Ghunmay to talk to me like this.Who are you to shout at me?" Sagarika snapped.
"But, it's just that I was worried for you, Sagarika."
"Ok fine! I'm sorry, I think you should sleep now." She solidifies.
Anaya's eyes were red and sore, and it seemed to be the end of the night. It was silent all over the place and she was gazing upon the wall, crying silently. Nobody talked to her like this before. She was upset. Thinking about what she did wrong as she was about to sleep. Suddenly, there was a phone call from her mother.
"Hello," she answered groggily. Her voice was hoarse from all the tears.
"Oh, sorry, honey, did I wake you?"The concerned voice of Anaya's mother came across the line. Her mother called her every night to see if she had survived the day well, always afraid of waking her, yet always relieved to hear her speak; willing to know that her daughter is doing well in Mumbai.
"No, I was just reading a novel, it's ok mom." She answered.
"Your dad went out for his business tour and Abhi went for a sleepover at his friend's house and I was thinking of you, honey."
That soothing voice of her mother brought tears to her eyes. It made her remember why her mother was worried and that they shouldn't have to. Everything ought to be typical. She will settle down soon in this new city.
She 'ummed' and 'aahed' throughout the conversation and interrupted, "Mom, I think we should sleep. It's late! I'll call round later."
"Is everything ok,Anaya?" Mrs Oberoi asked.
A long silence prevailed on both ends.
"Yes! I'm just tired, mom."
"OK then, take care, honey."
"I will."Anaya dropped the phone. "While everyone slept peacefully,
She choked in her tears that night."
