Chapter 3 - Chapter 2.

He swiftly walked passed the hallway while gently humming. He paused, pushed a button, and sighed as the elevator opened. Before going in, he adjusted his collar. He exited the elevator on the third floor and made his way to his office while nodding and waving to his colleagues as they wished him a good day.

Dike looked much younger for a man in his early 40s, which explains why all of his female workers had a thing for him. He was tall, good-looking, intelligent, and outgoing. They also found his friendliness amusing .

"Mr Dike!" , Sofia ,his secretary spoke as she ran to catch up with him while marched inside his office.

"We have an issue, Mr Dike", she continued.

"I warned you, Sofia, that today would be quite hectic. Whatever it is, you can manage it, I'm sure ". He talked slowly and collectedly, as if he were choosing his words carefully.

"No, sir; there's a serious issue. Anita was murdered in her flat last night and is now dead "As she spoke, she was on the verge of tears.

"What!", he abruptly stood up from his desk chair. He said as he paced back and forth, gripping his fists and repeatedly banging them on the table, "What's happening, this is the second time our Target is dying, someone is obviously watching us."

They both remained still while they considered what might be wrong. She reflected that in her seven years of dealing with him, she had never witnessed him being so angry.

Despite being the CEO of Agu Arts, the largest museum in the city, and a wealthy man, he never used force against anyone. That was most likely the reason she fell in love with him, and she pondered why he didn't realize it. When she learned he wasn't married, she was glad and made a commitment to gain his affection. Sofia managed his company as if it were her own, carrying out nearly all of his requests out of a desire to win his favor. She pondered, "What should I do now; I need to find a solution to this."

A thought suddenly entered her mind.

"I believe I know who the potential murderer is; Mary Ola was last seen leaving her room last night following the event and is now missing. Moreover, she is currently being sought by authorities "I heard her say.

"Call our boys and tell them to bring Mary to me; that's it. She's in danger if she's responsible for killing our targets, but she'll make a great substitute ", he concluded his sentence with a sly grin.

Was she flying or just floating in the air? Whatever it was, she cherished the sensation. "I am free, no more worries," she muttered to herself as she spread her arms widely. She continued saying this to herself until she opened her eyes and realized she was dreaming. Until she discovered Janet's picture hanging on the wall next to the bed, she questioned where she was in the room. As her friend entered the room, she exhaled in relief.

Goodness, I'm so glad you're awake, Janet said. "You need to leave right away since you have been sleeping for about two days. I thought you were dead. I was about to come wake you up".

Mary then realized what had caused her to lose consciousness.

She cried and got out of bed, wiping her eyes with her palm as she said, "Oh my, Anita is gone."

Janet looked perplexed at her. I don't know why you're crying; didn't you also murder her? Laughing, she uttered those words.

Mary was perplexed and enquired, "What are you talking about Jane?"

Janet offered Mary her phone so she could see what she was referring to.

"Gosh!" exclaimed Mary as she scrolled up and saw her name under the title, "Mary Ola, a third-year medical student commits murder." She then saw her image under the headline, "Mary Ola, a murderer who escapes as another student is found dead."

"Mary screamed, "No, I didn't do it, Jane, it wasn't me. When I raced over after hearing her scream from my room, I discovered that she had passed away ".

"You are such a liar and pretender. I had no idea I had been harboring a murderer the entire time. The day you were in trouble, I received a text from your phone, and I came to find you unconscious, so I brought you here. You must leave immediately because the police are looking for you everywhere, and I don't want to get into problems "Janet screamed angrily.

"You know me Jane, I wouldn't hurt a fly, could you please.." She beseeched.

Janet shoved her outside and slammed the door, "Please leave my house and never come back."

5:15PM.

With a book in her hands, Janet read in bed while covered by the duvet. She was listening to music on her Jambox.

She abruptly heard a knock at the door.

Who is there? she demanded.

There was none.

She added, "Mary, I told you not to come back, please leave, I don't want trouble. When the door was shoved open violently and two strong guys entered with pistols and masks over their faces, she had just finished her sentence.

"Who are you and what do you want? ", She buried her face in her duvet out of fear.

One of them inquired, "Where's your friend Mary?"

The other man put his gun at her face and stared into her eyes when she didn't respond.

We are aware that she was here previously; where has she fled to?

She tried to sound adamant but found herself stuttering, "Look I don't know Mary, I have no acquaintance that bears that name okay, maybe it's a wrong address you got."

He raged, "I'll ask you one last time, where is Mary.

She cried out, "I swear, I don't know her."

The trigger was pulled immediately the first guy commanded, "Finish her."
