Chapter 4 - Military Base Assault (2)

When they were preparing for another assault, a system screen appeared in front of them, taking them by surprise.

Startled, they could not figure out this situation. Captain Sam hesitantly asked whether others could see some game-like system screen in front of them. With a momentary pause, the cadets responded affirmatively.

Captain Sam instructs them to check what is written in each of their status windows and report it to him.

Cadets peeked into the system following his command to learn about the situation. Sam, likewise, turns to his screen and taps its functions.

Through various videos, he could infer that the monsters had invaded the world. Seeing the same situation of despair and struggle everywhere shocked him.

His focus shifts to the rewards, and he clicks on the following column:

====

[SKILL-MY ZONE]

[After pointing to a location as a base, all weapons in that location will move on their own to kill approaching enemies. However, the user had to stay still at the designated location while concentrating.]

====

Captain Sam finds his skills useful on this military base where the only thing he doesn't have to worry about is weapons. After that, he enhanced his skills from the given options since he was confident in his physical prowess and intelligence.

In a while the soldiers reported their skills to him one by one. He then instructed them about what to enhance and where they should be assigned a position according to their skill sets.

Those with physical defense and short-range skills were called vanguard and designated at the front. Cadets with long-range and buff skills were at some distance as rearguard.

They prepared a formation with Captain Sam as their center because of his wide-area skills. They even stored weapons randomly, so that Captain Sam's skills could work effectively.

After confirming their formation, they found the help function. Many cadets suggested using it to call for backup, but Captain Sam was hesitant to involve civilians.

Who the fuck will help us? Other military bases must be in the same situation, leaving civilians as our only option. Shit! If we are having a hard time as trained soldiers, how can they fight?|

He sighed and shook his head in apprehension.

He knew the threat level was higher on this base than in any other building in Arin. They could infer that much from the ranking system, awarding them rank one in Arin.

They also learned that the monsters summoned here were known as ogres in fantasy novels and that the ogre, at the time, was the strongest monster in Arin so far.

There was so much otherworldly information that it gave him headaches and anxiety. In this situation, even human battles seemed like child's play.

--

The screen showed that after 48 hours, the next event would start, and before that, they had to kill all the remaining 200 ogres in this base.

Everyone sweated buckets while learning about the remaining monsters in the base.

Fuck! Two hundred, would we even survive in this upcoming battle?|

After watching the count of the remaining ogres, Sam realized their predicament and fell into despair and guilt.

He posted a bounty request on the forum, requesting aid from others, and was ashamed of himself.

Watching civilians die in their homes repleted him with guilt, and now he could only wait for them to save the military that was supposed to protect them.

After clearing his mind from stray thoughts, he addresses his soldiers, "Everyone, even though I put in a bounty request, we should not hope for any reinforcements because we are trained soldiers, and they are only civilians.

I only hope the civilians can protect themselves, and those who are strong enough to fight will help others first and then come here.

Until then, we will fight to our last breath and keep standing till our last drop of blood is spilled. "

Captain Sam's words motivated the soldiers and made them the last line of defense for this base.

Their eyes shone with determination to fight and rage to kill, including revenge in those mixed feelings in their hearts.

Following the announcement of the bounty request, soldiers noticed the number of ogres declining in the system window. They understood that some people must have come to their aid after completing their quest.

They felt hope and gratitude towards those courageous people.

Captain Sam felt the same and instructed, "We should also move and clear areas one by one. We may even find those who are here to help us.

Stay in the formation and move! "

Captain Sam's formation was impeccable, but he could not use his ability due to their movement here and there.

His skill needs him to stay in the same spot while concentrating. That's why it's useless while moving.

As they moved, two retired army soldiers joined them after some time. Captain Sam asked why they came here and left their homes defenseless.

One of them replied, "Sir, I'm Hussain. I watched your fight, and my old bones filled with the strength of my young days.

It's not every day, I get to fight with a commander of your caliber. "

Those who joined later gave the same reason resolutely. At least he was respected, Capt. Sam felt that his days in the army were worthwhile.

His squad marched forward, eliminating ogres one by one, without even a casualty due to his formations.

Only 100 ogres remained, and the soldier count rose to a hundred, including the civilians. It filled everyone with confidence. Now they were in the same numbers, and with their newfound strength, it could be possible to eliminate these damn intruders.

Although they knew there were a hundred ogres left, but nowhere to be found until now. Sam traced a trail and deduced it must be the way to them.

Soldiers from all units moved towards the ogre's march path leading them to the firing range, where soldiers usually practice aiming guns.

When they arrived, their vision betrayed them, as no one could recognize the transformed region.

In that short period, the ogre built an enormous camp in the firing range. At the center of that camp, a giant red ogre of 10 ft. with two big horns and large fangs was sitting on a throne.

His mouth was large enough to swallow a whole boar, with protruding fangs and massive nostrils.

The system confirmed him as Commander Ogre, and the remaining Ogres were his elite unit, used for slaughtering and scouting in many battles.

Captain Sam frowned as he felt their strength with a glimpse from afar. He wipes his brow and stares at the camp.

This was the first time he had seen a commander that could leave him shivering before a battle. Instinctively, Sam knew this fight would either result in their annihilation or the surviving soldiers would become the most capable warriors.

--

They carried out their preparations as effectively as they could. Captain Sam explains the strategy. "The plan is simple. They are smart, but this must be the first time they have seen firearms. Therefore, we will use their ignorance to our advantage.

Team 1 will use the remaining grenades to distract and divide their elite members. This team will have long-range fighters led by Hussain.

Team 2 will include all short-range fighters with physical prowess, and will pierce their camp by striking into the enemy's heart. I will lead team 2 to kill their leader.

If we take out the leader, we can use the guerilla tactic to kill the remaining ogres easily. "

[Guerilla strategy: strike the enemy with ambushes, keeping allies hidden with the least casualties].

After everyone was ready, Captain Sam sighed and prayed for their safety. He gave the signal to start their assault on the ogre to secure their base.

Team 1 started their long-range attacks with firearms, which caused disturbance among the enemies. Taking advantage of this disturbance Captain Sam yells, "Team 2 charge!"

While killing the enemies along the way, Team 2 strikes the enemy camp. With the ongoing battle, Hussain yells, "Yes! I knew the captain's plan was perfect, and I will show my family how bravely I fought with him. "

Suddenly, something hit team 1, erupting a blast. Most of the soldiers flew away torn and burned. Slowly, Hussain regains consciousness and tries to open his eyes.

A lot of loud sounds echo in his ears as he copes with the headache.

"What happened?"

"How could they attack us?" A cadet yelled, "RPG! Run its RPG!"

Perplexed, Hussain went blank, "How can monsters use RPGs and firearms?"

Then, he noticed an RPG coming his way. He closes his eyes and remembers his memories with his family in the last moments.

While fighting, Captain Sam notices team 1 and yells "Hussain", and team 1 gets hit by RPGs, leaving flames and ashes.

After that, many RPGs advanced to Team 2, and their formation was in complete shambles. Captain Sam could not believe what he was watching with his eyes.

"How can monsters use firearms?" Captain Sam cried aloud. His agony and confusion grew as he watched his soldiers die in vain.

His attention then shifts to Commander Ogre coming his way. He was a giant among giants with a mace in his hand; even Captain Sam felt like a baby in front of him.

He laughed and mocked him with his harsh voice and incomprehensible English.

"HUMAN, YOU THINK WE ARE STUPID. DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MANY RACES I HAVE FOUGHT AND ANNIHILATED?

I'M RAZAK, COMMANDER OF THE GREAT OGRE KING.

DID YOU ASK HOW WE USE YOUR WEAPONS? DON'T YOU KNOW ABOUT INCARCERATION AND TORTURE?

Captain Sam confusedly said, "What? When? "

Did they infiltrate our camp when? How could I not notice any hints like that?|

Watching him in confusion, Razak cackled. "JUST BEFORE THE ATTACK, I CAPTURED YOUR MEN AND LEARNED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BASE AND ITS WEAPONRY.

THAT'S WHY I EXPLODED YOUR ARSENAL AND TOOK EVERY BIG WEAPON FOR MYSELF IN MY THRONE ROOM.

YOU WERE ONLY DANCING IN MY PALM FROM THE START, HUMAN.

NOW I WILL USE ALL THESE WEAPONS TO KILL YOUR RACE. HA-HA-HA".

Razak's sinister laugh was choking Captain Sam. He never believed that someone could beat him on the battlefield and muttered, "So this is how I will die, after losing the base to enemies and even providing them with the weapon of destruction to kill my people.

It looks like this is the downfall of my military base. "

Suddenly, a huge explosion erupted in Razak's throne room.

Razak's brow twitched. Grinding his teeth, he watched his army engulfed in flames.

In the aftermath of the explosion, everyone was in disarray, and most of Razak's elite guards were killed.

"WHO WAS THAT?" Razak shrieked out in a very loud voice.

Then Captain Sam noticed a young man coming from the explosion. He was on fire but still advanced that way.

The flames in his body gradually extinguished, and his burn marks disappeared as if they had never happened.

Now that he was closer to the Captain, he could see his features. He wasn't very charming, but he wasn't dull either.

However, there was something in his eyes that drew Captain Sam to him. In his eyes was the look of a beast that had just annihilated an entire army.

He was carrying two battle-axes in his hands that were red hot due to fire.

Razak was furious, even the veins bulged out on his head. He screamed, "BASTARD! WHO ARE YOU?". That man, however, did not reply to Razak, not even giving a glance.

However, while staring at Captain Sam, he said, "I'm Tejasv."

His eyes were looking straight into the captain's eyes. It was like one beast peering into another. Tejasv nodded his head, glaring into the captain's eyes.

The captain sensed a beast provoking another to stand and fight for their survival. Now the Captain was filled with a comradeship he had never felt before.

Razak felt threatened, as he was now encircled by cornered beasts, ready to kill those who invaded their homes.

Each person was glaring at each other, peering into the eyes of their prey. Then suddenly, all three of them roared together and charged at their enemy.

Sam used his skills to mark that area as his base, considering the other young man his ally. All the weapons present started attacking Razak, either slashing, stabbing, or firing.

Razak and Tejasv crashed into each other and threw each other away.

No one in the surrounding area dared to interfere. Not even Razak's remaining soldiers did anything. This was a fight between beasts determining their rights to territory, which everyone perceived as a fight for survival.

The sparks from their weapons twinkled as Razak and Tejasv clashed repeatedly. No one intendined to stop. When Tejasv and Razak's weapons clashed, it produced the sound of 'Clang', the only sound ringing on that battlefield.

Captain Sam used all his concentration to attack Razak from blind spots with different weapons. Razak became furious with Captain Sam's annoying skills and threw his mace at him, knocking him away from the arena.

The blow was harder than Sam thought; two of his ribs broke, and he coughed up blood.

After the removal of Captain Sam from his sight, Razak clashed with Tejasv with bare hands. He suppressed Tejasv with incredible strength, grabbing Tejasv's hand and tearing it from his body.

Tejasv cried with pain, and Razak chuckled while watching him. Tejasv lost a lot of blood and stamina. Gasping and gnashing his teeth, He used his regeneration skill to grow another arm and again engaged the enemy.

Razak mocked, "WHAT AN ANNOYING SKILL. BUT HOW LONG WILL YOUR TENACITY LAST?

I WILL MAKE YOU MY PET, TEARING YOU DAILY TILL THE END OF THE WORLD."

Listening to his blabber, Tejasv groaned and replied while panting, "I will destroy you before the world ends."

It seemed like they would never end their fight, but everyone could sense that Tejasv wouldn't last much longer. Someone suddenly grabbed Razak from behind, with no one noticing.

"Hussain?" Sam mumbled from afar, perplexed by this situation.

"You DYING HUMAN, RELEASE ME!" Razak cried.

While on his last breath, Hussain gasped, "Looks like my [skill-No presence] is useful after all. Captain and young man, I'll take all the glory from here."

Hussain used all the grenades attached to his body while clinging to Razak, creating a big explosion.

As the flames fan out, everyone noticed Razak was still alive but heavily injured. Using this opportunity, Tejasv and the Captain both glanced at each other and aimed at Razak's neck.

Sam picked up a sword from the field while Tejasv grabbed an ax, and both leaped to the Razak.

As they struck, Everyone could only see a straight-line flash before them as a bullet and Razak's head flew into the sky.
