"Miss, you have an invitation," said the maid handing out the card.
"Hmm, looks luxurious," she said looking at the card.
It was a special invitation by a secret admirer for a candlelight dinner. Who could this person be? As no name was mentioned or where it came from, she guessed it was hand-delivered. She called her friend plus assistant. Who was now in another country picking out designer dresses for Ms.Jane.
"So you know I have got an invitation for a candlelight dinner"
"By whom?"
"A secret admirer,"
"Any clue from where?"
"None so ever,"
"I think you shouldn't go,"
"Ok,"
She just hung up. Well, who is she to tell me what to do or not? I will go to this place and enjoy myself. With that, she went to look for a dress. she selected the newest designer dress she had gotten from one of her wealthy admirers.
It seems there is no way to confirm the person. That means I can only visit and find out who is it. So she spent the whole evening dolling up.
"Jane, where are you going?"
"Oh mom, I have a dinner appointment with a friend,"
"Do I know who it is?"
"No, I don't think so"
"Then why are you going?"
"MOM,"
"Listen, Jane, we are really fed up with your silly parties and this and that. Why can't you be a responsible person like your brother?"
"I am going mom or I will be late,"
With that, she left not even minding her dad coming home.
"Where is she going?"
"I don't have any clue, Smith"
"She's getting out of hand. I mean I get embarrassed in front of others all the time, because of her,"
"Why don't we get her married? Then she might settle down,"
"Oh dear, I almost forgot, Liam met me today,"
"Why did he meet you suddenly, Smith,"
"he said that he have no intention of marrying Jane after what she made him do. And if we don't agree to end the engagement he will release the records to the media of her threatening him to harm that girl,"
"You mean Sarah?"
"Hmm..."
"So what did you tell him?"
"I agreed to it and called it off. I don't want anything to harm our boy's future," said Smith going up to his room with a heavy head.
Mrs.Smith was so worried about her daughter. She was getting out of control with her behavior. Now that Liam had ended the engagement, it's really going to be hard to find a match to suit Jane as well as to save their reputation. Or else she will have to send Jane to her brother in another country, who is strict and has a life without luxuries.
Mr.Smith and his son had a long talk today regarding what to do about Jane. Her behavior is a major downfall for businesses and many look down on them because of her. Even his son's engagement is on the brink of ending because of the news created by Jane. Now that Liam had backed down, the best thing is to send her abroad for some time.
Meanwhile,
Jane looked around and entered the luxurious restaurant that was newly built.
"Welcome miss,"
"I am sorry I was invited here," and Jane showed her the invitation. She looked at Jane and smiled, "Please follow me,"
Jane followed her to the private booth which was dark with just candlelight. I guess he is really a mysterious man. Suddenly from nowhere someone came in and sat in front of her. It was too dark to figure out who he was.
"Thank you for coming Miss.Jane," he said in a pleasing voice.
"Thank you for inviting me sir," She looked at him to get a clear idea of his face.
"Have I got the chance to meet you before?" She asked.
"Well this is the first time I am meeting you," he said.
"Oh, I see..."
"What would you like to have?"
She went and ordered and watched him silently till he finished ordering.
"I heard you love to party a lot?"
"Hmm yes.. I do. It's good to relax, I mean to let out stress,"
"Hmm,"
"So what do you do sir,"
"I run my own company, a security firm,"
"Interesting,"
"So what else do you do apart from partying Ms.Smith?"
"I studied fashion but I find it boring to do any work,"
"Hmm,"
"And I don't need to earn when I have a wealthy fiance and money to spare,..." and she went on talking about this and that, without regarding the person in front of her. After dinner, the host accompanied her to the car but with very poor judgment on her behavior and feeling sorry for his cousin.
Then again he thought, the reason Liam never wanted the wedding was her behavior and if he didn't marry her is for the best. No guy would want such a girl to be their wife.
At home, Mr.and Mrs. Smith and their son had a final talk on what to do with Jane. Especially now as the engagement has been called off and no one was even interested in her. Keeping her here would bring more harm to their reputation as well as the business they had worked so hard for years.
As soon as Jane got home, her parents talked to her.
"What?"
"Listen, I know you don't want to hear this but this is all happening because of your own actions," said her dad.
"Liam called off the engagement," said her mom.
"What!!!"
"Yes, and if I didn't agree he said he will tell the media about the stuff you have done so far" said her father angrily.
"But he did them"
"You forced him to use his grandfather,"
"So what,"
"I don't know how you became so arrogant Jane. So we are sending you to your uncle's for five years," said her dad.
"Mom... no not there,"
"This is your punishment, Jane. if not you will really damage everything we have right now. You are not to return till those five years are over,"
"Dad, please," said Jane. As she knew how strict and disciplined her uncle is. And he is a man who sticks to his words.
"You have two days to get ready and you are not to step a foot out of this house till you board the plane with me. And it's final," said her dad and went to his office room to make preparations.
