"What if she has a second opinion, some way to save her life which she hasn't discussed with me?" She blurted out.
"I was going to say the same thing," Detective Miller concurred. "Is she still looking forward to living? You know, is she still going to work, hanging out with friends and all of that?"
"She doesn't have many friends, so that's hard to tell, but she still goes to work. She's even been extra busy these days," Detective Cooper rattled on, amazed that she had never truly considered any of these before now.
Detective Miller frowned mistrustingly. He was not sure yet where this was headed but he had just succeeded in planting a thought in Rachel's heart. He just had to wait for her to see through his suggestion.
"Now you've mentioned it," Detective Cooper was saying, "I think my sister may have had a second opinion about her health condition which she is not yet ready to share with me. I mean, that would explain a lot of things."
