Vanessa's heart pounded louder as she edged her way through the winding hallway that led to the guestroom that Elsa now occupied.
As she passed through Elsa's original room, a rush of memories flooded her head. This room had belonged to Elsa when she was still living here in the house with her. But upon her departure, Vanessa had locked the room and kept the keys in her possession. She had never considered the fact that Elsa would ever return to the house considering how complicated their relationship was.
Now, walking past the door, Vanessa felt sharp pangs of guilt hit her. She tried to steady her mind, focusing on reaching the guestroom and confirming whether Elsa was fine or not. She could not shake off the feeling that something terrible was about to happen or already happened.
She stopped abruptly when she reached the door and pounded a heavy fist on it. No response. Vanessa knocked again, her heart jumping forward. Still, there was no response.
