Detective Miller stared back at Lila like someone hypnotized. He could not believe what he had just heard her say. He glanced at his partner and saw that she too looked appalled.
Usually, the smartphones regular people used were installed as chips in their palms. That meant they could use it anywhere. But there was a bad effect of this modern-day technology. If someone happened to die and the chip was not immediately removed from their body, it would be corrupted by their dead flesh which would eventually render it useless.
To avoid a scenario like this, most times when people died, the chip was immediately removed and the software as well as other details in the phone would be downloaded into an external device especially if it was going to be used for an investigation.
