That night, Vanessa enjoyed Ethan's company tremendously, and every other night since then. He showed her off to his friends at the club who merely gawked at the pretty woman Ethan had gotten for himself. Neither of them had an inking of who Vanessa truly was and the couple wanted to keep it that way.
Ethan wore her on his arm like a trophy, putting his entire existence all around her and making sure that she was always happy with him. Nothing gave him more joy than making Vanessa happy with him.
Theirs was a secret public affair. They did night-walking together. He took her to the Carefree Wine and Fine Art Festival and to the Actors Theater. They watched the Phoenix Suns play at America West Arena.
They visited the Lyon Gallery in Scottsdale. It was always from one merry outing to the other for them and Vanessa enjoyed it a lot. Matters of the state began to sound and look boring to her. It was like she was finally living.
