In the next couple of seconds that followed, Vanessa Winthrop had expected some sort of reaction from several of those in attendance at the meeting.
She was not stupid enough to believe that Amelia Thompson was working alone the whole time. There had to be someone fueling her guts. Mr. Earnest Robinson perhaps. He had challenged her openly the other day, so it would only make sense that he was now in close alliance with her.
But after about a minute passed and nobody said a word, Vanessa was beginning to feel otherwise. In the end, she dismissed the meeting and retired to her private library with Travis. She had some very pressing matters to discuss with him.
Travis had been the loyal obedient servant all evening. Vanessa Winthrop had not yet found the time to commend him for behaving so well tonight. Her mind was deeply troubled by something else.
