Walking back into the laboratory was like walking into hell for Isabella Cooper, literally. She could feel the sharp pangs of her conscience drumming through her heart as she punched in the security passcode into the security system.
A moment later, the machine buzzed and the door creaked open. Isabella took a deep breath. She was not ready for this. Somehow, she'd figured nobody else was. They had all been intertwined into this cobweb of secrecy and there was nothing they could do about it, well, nothing they could do that would not backfire on them.
As she stood there deciding her fate, moments later, she felt a warm breath brush past her. Isabella turned sharply and came face to face with a face he recognized quite well. What she couldn't decipher at once was the name of the person who owned the face.
"Isabella Cooper," The man called. "What a pleasant surprise it is to finally meet you in person."
