Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead as he stared blankly at the screen. Tom Bruce was sitting at the edge of the chair now, confused about whether to stand up and see clearly what Detective Miller had seen or to remain seated and allow him to point it out to him.
Lila was stretching her neck forward now, her eyes scanning through the mails, taking note of everything she was seeing until she found it. She made a sharp turn at once and looked up at Detective Miller.
"My husband was not usually paid so high. I wonder what happened," She paused, her eyeballs rolling in their sockets, as if she was trying to recall something.
"He was usually paid $1500 every month. I know that much because we sat together every month to fix our budgets for the month anytime he was paid. But this," She pointed at the screen, "It appears my husband had been lying to me," She was speaking more to herself now and her eyes became filled with deep sadness and betrayal.
