Detective Miller listened with rapt attention as Rachel explained how she met the stranger that promised to help her find her sister. At the end of everything, he was beyond perplexed. But most especially, he was concerned about Rachel and how she chose to handle everything.
Rachel was saying, "And that's it. I'm still waiting on the strange kind man's lead. If all goes well, maybe, just maybe my sister might be with me by the end of the week. He assured me of that."
An overwhelming silence followed. Detective Miller was trying his best to keep his composure but he could not hide the fact that he was displeased with the course of action she had taken for too long.
"Aren't you going to say a word?" Rachel asked, after the silence had gone on for too long.
