Detective Miller a d Cooper exploded outside the front door of the house that supposedly belonged to Miss Gina Hall, Helen Hall's sister. The sun cast long thin shadows on them as they stood by the door, each waiting for the first person to make a move.
It was not so hot outside anymore. The air was cooler than it was about a few minutes ago when they were back at the precinct. The fresh air felt like a drug as it flowed through Detective Miller's lungs. While inside the car, he had been fairly comfortable with the cold air from the air conditioner, but nothing felt quite like the original thing.
Rachel was studying the pinhole in the door, squinting to see what lay behind the door. But it was no use. Her eyes could not see further without the door being opened.
