Travis turned the remains of what seemed to have been a burner, his laser eyes, scanning through it. He knew what he was looking at, but he was still shaken by its appearance and where had found it.
After doing a thorough sweep of the house, he had found the decaying metal inside a flower vase in the hallway. The organic matter from the flower vase had infiltrated the metallic device and had probably corrupted it. He had no way of knowing for sure just how badly damaged the device was.
Travis had taken himself back to the scene where he'd found the burner and had taken a good position there while his mind worked actively to find out what had happened here.
The assassin had obviously entered into the house through the line-paned windows that lined the hallway. After entering the house, he had done away with the burner he'd brought with him which he'd probably used to communicate with those that sent him from the outside.
