Chapter 13 - Hide Her Blush From Him

We promised." she rolled her eyes at him.

"Yes ma'am. We'll decide after two months."

"But I can't really accept these keys. We are in the process of getting to know each other. It isn't right for me to enter your house." she placed the keys back in his hand.

"Isn't it part of getting to know each other? You would know what kind of person I am based on the place I'm living, right?" John put it back in her hand. They were basically tossing the keys back and forth between them.

"You got a point." Eva nodded her head before pocketing the keys.

"Of course. I need to be intelligent to pursue an intelligent woman like you." John put his hand in his pocket.

"Stop praising yourself." Eva retorted but she had a smile on her face.

"Would you like me to praise you instead?"

"Cut it out."

"You're very beautiful tonight," John stated while looking at her face.

Eva was so embarrassed she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself. "Do you want a fight?" she acted mad to hide her blush from him.

"We're not officially in a relationship but we'd fight already?" John teased her again seeing how red her face was.

Eva could only face-palmed herself. John had ways to retort her statements but she didn't hate him. She had fun with their conversation instead.

John didn't probe her with any personal questions. He would wait for her to open up to him. In any case, he's got two months to spend time with her.

"I have to go back. I still have things to prepare for tomorrow's work," she spoke to him but her eyes were still on the view in front of her. Sad to say, she had to go home and leave the view behind her.

"I'll send you back. Let's go?" John reached out his hand to her. And because she was still thinking of the view and the house, she didn't mind placing her hand on his. They walked back to the front of the house where the car was parked.

"You can always go back here, you know," John stated when she was still down even after reaching the car.

"I will impose on you then. Thanks a lot." Eva smiled and fasten her seatbelt. She would certainly go back when he's not around.

John drove the car back so that Eva can pick up her car and go home. He didn't let her start the car yet until he finished his inspection to make sure that no one had touched her car or done something which would cause her harm.

"Your car is good to go. Nobody rigged on it." John fasten her seatbelt for her like it was natural for him to do so.

Eva didn't feel awkward about what he was doing but she leaned back to give him some space. "Thanks for checking it. I'll go home now. I'll text you if I have time. Take care on your way back." she started the engine after John closed her door.

"Send me a message once you get home for me to know you're safe," John responded to her.

"Okay. Bye now." she waved her hand and started manoeuvring the car out of the parking lot.

Her eyes were focused on the road but she was also checking if anyone was following her. She had been feeling that someone was stalking her lately.

That encounter at the cemetery, she believed it wasn't really Emily.

When she faced Emily that time, even though she retaliated against her, there was no malice or any bad motive in her eyes. However, she could feel that the person who was stalking her definitely want to harm her.

John left the place once Eva's car was out of his sight. He looked up at the dark sky with stars sparkling like how her eyes sparkle when she smiled.

'She's really interesting. She's the first woman to spark my interest in the opposite sex.' John thought as he drove his car back to the rented house.

She immediately took a shower and wrapped her body in a robe. She took out her phone and sent him a message as she promised.

I GOT HOME SAFELY. THANKS FOR ACCOMPANYING ME TONIGHT. GOOD NIGHT.

That was the text she sent to him which made John sit up straight on his bed. He was currently checking on some paperwork that he wasn't able to finish that day when he received her message.

A smile started to form on his lips while typing his reply. I AM GLAD YOU'RE SAFE. GOOD NIGHT.

When Eva received his response she was getting ready to sleep after finalizing her schedule for the next two days. But sometimes, even when you made plans, it's bound to change.

The next day, Eva woke up early and started her morning exercise.

"Fine. Let's stop now. I want to leave earlier today as well. I have schedules piling up."

"You plan for your own work, why don't you put some day off once in a while," Merry commented as she helped her take off her gloves.

"I did. Though most of my day off was also spent sleeping or reading notes," she answered while wiping her sweat.

"Fine. Fine. You did. Anyway, are you sure you're coming with me?" Merry asked her what she meant about going to Summer Cafe.

"Yeah. I have it scheduled today. I'll visit the cafe whenever I have time and see if there are any adjustments to make." It's not because Merry wasn't proficient with her work, but sometimes she felt that she let Merry do everything on her own and she felt guilty about it.

Merry rubbed her head messily while speaking. "You don't have to be guilty towards me or to feel worried about the cafe. It's ours. I am responsible for it as well."

she drove her car with Merry since they were going together to Summer Cafe. She and Merry arrived at the cafe which surprised many employees.
