The workshop was littered with machines, from small boxes that glowed a dim light to large orbs that seemed to be miniature stars. Odin looked around the items and then focused on the many tablets he had been working on.
It had been three days since he started his warp drive project and he had made little progress. Currently, he was trying to get any bit of knowledge from the tablets. There was bound to be a scientist on the ark and their tablet should be there, but it seemed useless as after 100 tablets there was nothing useful.
The emergence of STC was a great thing for humanity. They contained the sum of all human knowledge in a portable form. It allowed even a cave dweller to make lasguns, fortified bunkers, and interstellar warships. They were made to last and be made out of very little material. This led to their being little need for repairs and specialists as the machine took care of it.
This was also a reason for the cybernetic revolt humanity had become too arrogant and relied on the men of iron for most work. This, in turn, made humanity very weak against themselves, as they never expected it.
As most colony worlds lived simple lives and needed few things, there was no need to truly progress further, or at least for the world to, as most of the scientific minds resided on Mars and made discoveries as they explored the galaxy.
These events and others eventually led to the downfall of humanity and in the ashes of humanity rose the imperium of man.
The ark was huge, but it didn't contain many functioning technologies. Odin had only gotten 234 tablets, and each varied on how corrupted or broken they were. From his estimate, the most functioning one only had 37% of its data uncorrupted, so it was hard to find much and some were scattered so it was unintelligible.
Another problem was the language barrier. This technology was from thousands of years in the future and language had changed. While it was a combination of some notable ones, there were still unknown words he had to guess.
"Hey, system can't you make it so I understand written language like a understand spoken language?" Odin asked the system.
[done]
From his point of view, the words changed to something he could properly understand. Of course, he still gained nothing from it as the tablets held nothing valuable, so Odin kept looking through all of them.
Another 3 days passed and Odin had finally gotten something. It wasn't much, but it helped tremendously. Odin went on earth's internet and try to see if he could find something for inspiration. Maybe earth had thought of something since he had the equipment he could test it.
"A black hole." Odin muttered as he reviewed his data.
"But how am I going to take the negative energy that forms from a black hole?"
"Can I switch the properties of the positive particle, causing its antiparticle to become positive and vice versa, or do I need something else? I know I can use the black hole as an energy source, but I still need more knowledge on it." Odin said as he formulated ideas on how to make negative energy.
'Sir me and apocalypse might be able to help you as we were with the emperor during the time he made the warp drive we have some memory of him designing it I was also mentally linked with him so I can share his thoughts and view to help it might not be much but it should help greatly!' the armors A.I spoke for the first time in a while.
"If you had it, just hand it I need all I can get.," Odin said as he formulated a way to make a sustainable black hole.
'Here you go!' Salvation said.
As Odin wrote on the tablet, he was met by the memories of someone else. He watched as two men worked day and night on starships from frames, material cost, energy sources, and the thing Odin wanted most the warp drive.
As he watched further and further, Odin was astounded not only by the complexities of the warp drive but by the sheer intellect that the two men had. One was already nearly 7 thousand years old and led the largest company humanity knew, and the other was a young boy who would take control of an entire galaxy in the next few years.
Odin watched as the young boy used advanced technomancy to form a hive mind using artificial intelligence. Things that would require hundreds of minds and centuries of research were done easily.
As he viewed the memories, he gained a small understanding. It was still unknown to him. It was like a child trying to study physics but not even able to understand addition yet. Some questions were answered and then more questions took their place.
He watched for what felt like years and still made very little progress, but it slowly compounded, and Odin could grasp the subject better and better.
Odin watched these memories on repeat for an entire month straight, taking in every little detail. He watched things built, broken and rebuilt again, formulas made and solve and then done again over and over.
Odin finally realized something the two seemed to be teaching him each repeat. He saw changes, different dialogue that was not there further explanation and then asking questions that's were clearly directed at him.
After finally learning all he could on the last repeat, everything changed and a full detailed blueprint was displayed with all that would be needed to create it.
'I commend your prescience but you still haven't truly been challenged you are still nursed I hope one day you can rely on your own self now go and see the ocean of stars for yourself little one.' a faint mechanized voice spoke before Odin returned to the workshop.
Looking around, Odin realized the workshop had been organized. It wasn't a mess Odin didn't bother with that and quickly drew the blueprint he saw on the tablet and quickly left the shop to get the resources for his creation.
Odin connected the store to the ark and went out. The ark was a good source of the materials he needed, so Odin mindlessly consumed the ancient relic, storing the materials in his inventory.
The nearly 50,000-ton ship was consumed in a mere 2 weeks, as Odin worked without rest. When he first went out, he felt tired and famished, but once the radiation entered his body, he was back to normal. It seemed that radiation could be used to substitute rest and hunger may be other types of energy could be used like this and he might be able to give this ability to the space marine he would make.
Odin returned and turned the workshop to high level the space expanded greatly and giant machines appeared. This space held machinery focused on ships and other super large constructs. The workshop also had constructors which ranged from humanoid robots to large titans.
Constructors like the name constructed things from houses to ships or entire worlds. They were the labor force of humanity from the prime earth. They did not have advanced intelligence so they couldn't be used like androids, but they followed orders to a t.
Odin had decided to focus on one part at a time, as he had to do the testing to make sure it would work. He could have the ship blow up when he tried flying it, after all. Odin was first going to make the heart of the ship, which was the energy source that will power all the ship's functions.
Odin was going to make a miniature sun for his energy source. It sounded advanced, but in reality; it was nothing compared to being able to move through spacetime faster than even light.
He gave the instructions to the smaller constructors, and they started to work taking the material. They molded them, turning the old legacy into something new.
From his estimations, the ship would take half a year to build if everything went at maximum efficiency. Odin looked at the constructors and soon joined in to speed it up as much as he could.
