Chapter 54 - Female Spined Mole

The kids quickly spaced out and Duyi looked to the bleeding Wen Yu with distressed eyes. Again. He'd helped him again and this time he owed a life. How was he ever going to pay the kid back?

He rushed over to Wen Yu the same time as Wen Lin did and they both supported him up and took him farther away from the roaring female spined mole.

The spined mole bounded over and Wen Lin blasted it with her spirit energy. Although it did no harm to the angry mole, it was effective in pushing it a few metres backwards.

"The quills. Get the quills," Wen Yu said as he grit his teeth and cut out a couple of cloth strips from his uniform pants and knotted them together.

Duyi and Wen Lin joined the others and they all attacked the mole together but the female spined mole was much smarter than the earlier males and made sure that her quills were never in the line of attack.

ROAR!

The spined mole was beyond mad now. Although their spirit energy couldn't break skin, it was more than enough to toss it about.

The mole sunk its claws into the hard earth below slowly turning it to sticky mud. Wen Yu's eyes shook. If the mole succeeded in turning the ground below them to quick mud, they would be doomed.

It would be so easy for it to lay waste to their bodies once they were stuck! Before he could shout a warning, the rest had already taken note of the situation and were quickly retreating.

Wen Yu tied the cloth knot he'd made around his chest to staunch the wound. Although he wasn't bleeding as much, he wasn't comfortable with exposing a fresh wound to the atmosphere with so many suspicious looking bugs around.

His face was really pale too. Due to the blood loss, the amount of spirit energy that the dead core was draining from him increased exponentially and he was beginning to feel dizzy.

The kids were all standing a safe distance away and watched as the hard earth was slowly morphing into a swamp. If they did nothing now, it would be hard to defeat the female spined mole once the swamp was fully formed.

They were at a loss for what to do. If they left now, they'd be leaving the tags behind and all their hard work would have been for nothing. Not just that, it would be even harder for their points to catch up with the others' in the future and they would surely lose terribly.

"The vines! Use the vines!" Wen Yu shouted out when he saw their lost looks. His chest hurt terribly from the shout but he ignored it. If they used the vines to disrupt the mole's flow and then proceeded to attack from the trees then there was a chance to break off a few quills and succeed.

He explained the plan as quickly as he could to the kids and watched on as they all took action. Duyi and Huo Lan stood on each side of the rapidly spreading swamp and controlled a bunch of vines to interrupt the female spined mole.

Wen Lin and Qi San sprinted up two massive trees and attacked the spined mole from above, directing most of their energy at the base of the quills.

The duo on ground tried relentlessly to hold the spined mole in place with the vines but their efforts were useless. The quills were too sharp and when they got hold of its legs, the spined mole only needed to shake a bit for the spirit vines to fall off. The defence of the damned beast was really too strong!

The duo up in the trees increased the pressure of their spirit energy and when they almost succeeded, the spined mole caught sight of their actions and stopped creating the swamp in order to upturn and face its belly up.

Wen Lin stamped her little foot on a tree branch and pouted angrily. "Stupid beast! Why won't you stay still?!" They've been trying for so long and were beginning to run out of spirit energy. The situation wasn't favourable to them at all! If this continued, they would have no choice but to give up and lose everything.

This thought caused the little girl's eyes to redden. They'd worked so hard and her Ah Yu was even injured, how could they just let their spoils go?

At the point when the spined mole was focused on warding off Qi San and Wen Lin's spirit energy, Duyi infused his spirit energy into a spirit vine that Huo Lan was controlling and they both used it to attack the base of the quills.

The spined mole must have sensed danger and quickly turned around again but it was a step too late. The ground duo managed to break off a single quill.

Wen Yu was so emotional at this moment that he pumped a fist in the air and groaned when his action strained his wound.

Duyi delivered the quill to Qi San with a vine and the kid caught it and wasted no time in triggering the poison within. Once he was done, he shot the black quill at the spined mole.

Every other kid infused their spirit energy to guide the quill and even Wen Yu sent out his tiny wisp of energy. There was really no need for the additional spirit energies but they would all rather die than take any chances.

Once the quill came in contact with the mole's skin, it roared in anger as its skin quickly deteriorated but its life quickly ended after the accompanying spirit energies blasted it to bits with a large BANG.

Immediately, they all slumped to the ground. Even Wen Lin and Qi San in the trees came down to slump with the rest. A minute in and they were all up and searching for the QR tags.

When they found the various pieces plus the one from the female spined mole, they rushed out of the swamp. They'd scan them later. Who knew what beast would come this time if they remained?
