Chapter 15 - SOME WILL WIN, SOME WILL LEARN

I stopped by the office for training on AML, Anti Money Laundering, or money laundering prevention. ABC, Anti Bribery and Corruption or prevention of bribery and corruption. And Anti FRAUD or fraud prevention. The knowledge that marketers need in carrying out their duties.

I see the Motivation event this afternoon is also a good speaker, the seat must be full. While waiting for the time, I checked one by one the pending proposals in folder.

There is an illustration on behalf of Mrs. Wati. Mrs. Wati was once the wife of an official, her husband passed away. She chose to live in her own house instead of living with her daughter's family whose house is actually not far from hers. She now spends time traveling to Bali, and other tourist destinations, buying local handicrafts and then reselling them at home or when there is a bazaar event.

When I have free time, I like to visit her to have breakfast or chat, listening to her stories from her 'glory' era.

Yesterday, a few times I passed by her house, it was closed up tight. The phone was off. The third time I met her daughter at Mrs. Wati's house.

It turned out that Mrs. Wati was sick and had been hospitalized for almost a month. I was limp. The proposal I made had not been approved by her daughter. Mrs. Wati didn't have insurance yet. She hadn't been able to apply for BPJS*) yet. Finally, her daughter had to pay all the hospital fees.

Things happen. Sometimes I feel sick too. It feels like I'm the one who spent money from my own pocket for the hospital fees. I often regret why I wasn't persistent enough... to force them to finish the procedure since the process actually already halfway.

If we only know...

I look into another illustration. It belongs to Mas Yanto. Mas Yanto is single and works as a supervisor in a supermarket. There was nothing difficult about his prospect, that very day he handed over the first premium payment to me, Cash.

But the process that started smoothly didn't necessarily end the same way. He was found to be overweight. There had to be a medical check to check urine and blood fat.

Then the next week I took him to the Lab at an International Hospital appointed by the company, of course at the company's expense. If I didn't take him, it would have dragged on so long that I wouldn't have had time. I dropped him off at the hospital and left him.

A week later I got a call from the hospital doctor, who said Mas Yanto had run away from the hospital, so he hadn't checked the lab.

I asked Mas Yanto, he said he had. I don't know which one is true. Then the following week I took him again. A few days later I got confirmation from the hospital that the results had been sent to the office.

The following week came the decision of Under Writing, the team from the Company whose job was to determine whether this proposal passed or not.

Yanto's blood fat was found to be above the normal limit. So there are certain diseases that become exceptions, meaning that they cannot be covered by it. And there must be a follow-up examination.

Mas Yanto was already tired. He definitely objected because he made insurance to 'protect' him in case he was sick and had to be hospitalized.

This 'exclusion' and some 'pre-existing conditions' meant that he was not entitled to insurance benefits in the event of illness.

But the proposal cannot be canceled, because the cost of the Lab is already far greater than the premium he deposited.

I see many of my friends, only 3 months have won a competition for a trip to Bali, 6 months got a bonus trip to Asia, one year has traveled to Europe, and various other awards.

I really appreciate deeply those who have succeeded in this industry, I have the highest respect for my friends who have enjoyed the beauty of success in this business, they deserve that Privilege.

Because my personal experience is not an easy matter.

And I know and can feel how it's a struggle.

The afternoon's Motivation event ended just like that. Nothing stuck in my head, only the Motivator's last words,

"Success is very simple in this Industry..."

At the time of closing, all of us in the room were asked to stand up and close our eyes, absorbing a song.

Then, a song played in the room, Regina Idol's - Victory.

*Hidup ini adalah sebuah kemenangan

Kita memang terlahir untuk menang

Some will win some will lose

And its your turn now to choose

Kemenangan adalah milik orang orang yang berdoa, yang berdoa

Kemenangan adalah milik orang orang yang berjuang, yang berjuang*

*Life is a victory

We are born to win

Some will win some will lose

And it's your turn now to choose

Victory belongs to those who pray, who pray

Victory belongs to those who struggle, who fight*

I don't know, throughout the song my eyes were closed but my tears were flowing. I felt like I was standing alone, in the middle of a large space with so many people. I saw a very bright light like a spotlight shining on me.

I felt a delicate hand stroking my head. It was like my soul was floating, out of my body, rising up and flying around the room and I was lost in the song.

I kept myself from sobbing, embarrassed that my sobs would be heard by the people. As a result, the water didn't just come out of my eyes but from my nose as well, continuously flowing down and soaking the front of my shirt until the song ended.

*When life is in sorrow, just keep holding on

And when the night's so long, it's worth fighting for...

Hidup memang sebuah perjuangan

Meskipun memang takdir ada

Life is indeed a struggle

Although fate is there

When I opened my eyes, I felt that my chest was very spacious. My soul was calm. The heavy burden seemed to be gone. The relief was incredible.

I remembered a poem by Imam Shafi'i

Berlelah lelahlah' Karena manisnya hidup terasa setelah lelah berjuang…

Tired of being tired' Because the sweetness of life is felt after being tired of struggling ...

It feels like now I know how sweet life is, even when I'm down.

Or is this ANOTHER FORM OF MY VICTORY
