She was appointed by a foreigner she had never met before who appreciated her very much, now a compatriot who she knows well has dropped her from this place by lowering her self-esteem.

From: Allan

Subject: Hello

Things are going well here in Florida. We moved here two months ago and start to settle in. Temperature and climate are more or less the same as in Indonesia. However, the people sure are different. It is not easy to find such honest and nice people as you have there.

Luna, I hope your private life is going well and you have found some nice gentleman to take care of

...

Only through email can Luna feel Allan's sincerity

Recently Allan visited the Dominican Republic and as we were together, we did talk about Indonesia, everything, and good days. Do write of Indonesia and more about you

From: Anders

Subject: Hi

WELL, how are things on the other side of the earth

We left India several weeks ago

...

Anders took a sabbatical and toured Asia Australia in a Land Rover with three other friends. Every time he stops in a country, he sends an email and shares a story with Luna... it's a long email. Luna read it again until the end of the email.

Luna, if you weigh up a lot maybe you are pregnant??? wha!!!

But if your weight goes up, it's (breast) also bigger right??? Nice indeed...

Luna smiled as she read Anders' email discussing her weight, it was like hearing Anders' voice in Indonesian with a Swedish accent. You are naughty!

She opened another email again

Kowe mole jam piro? Gelem ora mole ambek aku?

(What time are you coming home, will you come home with me?)

Luna frowned, it felt like she had just read this email. Been a long time...

For a moment she forgot about the problem.

The deadline for signing the DOWNGRADE letter has arrived. After a long discussion, once again, they finally came to a point where the Company's policy was not to meet the demands of its employees.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

It was hard for Luna to find a plausible explanation for all this. Years of work, dedication, and good report cards do not guarantee that everything will be fine, even as one of the COMPANY POLICY TEAM, the team that makes company policies is so easily removed.

HOW COME?

Indeed, one of the weaknesses of the company is that there is no labor union, so if there is an incident like this, there is no one to defend it. Everyone is comfortable with the position and all the facilities.

Luna never thought of proposing the 'REFRESHMENT' article in the Company Policy Book, maybe if the article existed it might sound like this;

'The company may at any time increase or decrease the position of its employees without any prior notification or acceptable reason. Management's decision is absolute and cannot be contested.' Just add it all, if there is a price difference, the company will pay double the difference.

Luna knows that this is purely a local law of the jungle, like or dislike, Global doesn't know anything.

"So, if you don't sign this letter, which means...?" Luna looked at Ranita.

Ranita silently looked back at Luna's eyes with a flat face, and Luna knew, that meant; Take it or leave it.

She read again the paper with Down Grade written on the table in front of her.

The letter is like a sword that Ranita thrusts at her. Ranita doesn't want to kill her directly, but she lets Luna kill herself to keep her hands clean.

Tears spilled down Luna's cheeks without permission. Her little voice inside the heart didn't want to be compromised.

Deadlocks.

She shifted the paper and pen in front of her back to Ranita's desk.

"I RESIGNED!"

Finally, I officially 'resigned' from the DOER Company after 13 years of working at this company.

I started working in this office when I was single, then married, and had children until my daughter, Bright was in 3rd grade of Elementary School, and now with a heavy heart, it all has to end.

I never believed in the 'unlucky' number 13. I still can't believe it when I can't get past my 13th year working at this company. Maybe there is the number 13 that has an unfavorable connotation in my subconscious that I'm not aware of, I don't know, and I don't want to mess with it. All I know is that this has become my destiny.

So sad. I have to leave my Support Team, and friends from the Sales Team who are so tough, solid, annoying, and fun at the same time. Had to part with my favorite game, my baby "SAP" which has taken me around EUROPE. I have to part with this place full of bittersweet memories, but everything makes life feel more alive.

I returned all the Company's belongings, cars, cell phones, laptops, external disks, AMEX credit cards, Health Insurance Cards, Pension Cards, Wear packs, Safety Shoes, Projector Helmets, and SelfDevelopment books that I borrowed from the Company Library. And all my responsibilities.

The wheel of life is turning...
