Sitting in the meeting with other director's his heart was racing but still maintained a calm face like he wasn't bothered.
Emelda had insisted on finding the fate of the company this way as she wants the company for her son.
Aiden finally decided to come to the meeting mentally and listen to what they were saying, at first he was only there physically.
Remembering what happened the other day in the house it made him worried. How he wished he had an easier way out of all this, even if he decides to get married today, who will he marry?
All his life, he doesn't even have a female friend let alone a girlfriend, and if they buy the idea of him getting anyone as a wife the let her go after the company is given to him, what if the woman can't keep his secret.
Then there is Annie who seems up for the challenge of helping him even though he doesn't think there is hope for him.
Maybe going to the doctor and having her carry his child won't be a bad idea, he will give her anything money can buy, that's if this meeting goes badly and she accepts his offer even though she is so hard headed.
"I thought we all want the best for this company and that is why we need a responsible person. Someone who can settle down and take care of the company. How else can that be possible if not having someone who wants to start a family with a responsible woman," Emelda's words brought in back to the room.
What was the woman even doing in the meeting? He wanted to ask but preferred to ask a different question.
"Are you responsible?" He asked and everyone in the room, turned to face her as she frowned.
"What sort of question is that? I'm responsible,"
"Responsible enough to be somebody's mistress and still want to fight for what is not yours, right?" He arched his brows at her and though his voice was calm, he was intimidating her.
"Excuse me? I'm nobody's mistress,"
"Both your children that you claim to be my father's were born before my mother died that makes you? All this you are fighting for was my mother's hard work and your nonsense doctrine will not make it yours,"
"Aiden we understand you, this was your mother's hard work and in her memory, we all want the best for the company we are sure if she was alive she would want the same thing. You have been taking care of the company and you have done your best in taking this company to greater heights but the world is changing. You are a young man in your youth you will meet so many beautiful women and not all of them will have good intentions. We want you to get married and settle down to a woman who will help you with your dreams and goals," Leo one of the director's in their branch spoke.
Aiden always respected Leo because he is always calm, composed, wise and respectful.
"I'm supposed to pick any woman just to impress you guys?
"No, that's why we are giving you time," Leo responded.
"The sooner you make your choice the better or we will have no other choice than to hand it over to Alex, he has proven to be responsible," Tadeo spoke and Aiden wasn't surprised the guy has always been on Emelda's side because he has his own interests in the company and Emelda's could be an easier bait for his quest.
"What i think is, this company will be the best gift for Alex on his upcoming wedding," Tadeo added.
"Such an amazing dream," Aiden said.
"How many people agree with me?" Tadeo asked and seven people out of the ten present, raised their hands.
It was only him, his dad and Leo that weren't in support of that nonsense but as of now he didn't have a basis for contradiction, if they go by the majority polls then he may fail his mother.
"You see, at least this meeting id full of sensible people who know what is best for the company,"
Aiden gets up and leaves the room.
"He is so rude to even lead us," Tadeo commented.
It has been two days since he went for the sessions and he didn't think it was a bad if he goes there today.
Getting to her office, Mira stopped him.
"I'm sorry sir but she isn't in today,"
"Where is she?"
"She left twenty minutes ago, she is going home then go to the orphanage,"
"Where is her house? I need the directions," he requested surprising Mira and shocking himself more.
Nobody has ever made such a requested since she started working with Annie.
"She doesn't mix work with personal life and she may not be happy with me, if you go to her house," Mira responded.
"You are scared because of your job? I can handle that, so can I get the address,"
Mira was scared, she didn't even know why he wanted to go to her house in the first place and the cold aura around him, made her heart race.
What if Annie is in danger? Maybe he wants to hurt her.
"Can you please allow me call her? Or you can tell me what you want to tell her then you come back tomorrow and I'll schedule an appointment at exactly eight. She is free tomorrow and you can have a session with her the whole day of you want,"
"I don't have the whole day to be here listening to all this, so tell me, where does she stay?"
Unwillingly she wrote the address down for him and handed it to him and he rushed out not saying a word.
She quickly took the phone and called Annie.
"Annie before you say anything please hear me out," she said immediately Annie picked.
"What happened?" Annie knew immediately that something was definitely wrong from how she sounded.
"Aiden, the mysterious client who pays alot of money, is looking for you,"
"Tell him to come tomorrow, I can't come back at the moment, I guess he will understand,"
"How I wish he did,"
"What has happened?"
"I gave him the address to your house, please don't run away, he will think I lied to him and we don't know what he is capable of," she pleaded.
"You did what?"
She had perfect plans on how to go about all this and she was sure he may not find her because he doesn't know alot about her but if he is coming to her house then all her plans are useless.
"What is wrong with Mira? She wants to land me into trouble," she thought to herself.
"I didn't have an option, he was on my neck,"
"You know I don't mix work and my life, find a way of sorting this out because I'm only picking few things and I leave the house. What if he is coming to hurt me?"
"I don't think he can, if he does just call me and I'm coming with the police,"
"He won't find me in the house, deal with the mess you created," Annie said as someone knocked on her door and the phone fell from her hand as she was about to hang up.
