Chapter 8 - What About This?

4:30 pm - 18th Saturday

Juliette had Freya and Sky come over to discuss matters more clearly because she didn't write anything when they were having the google meet. "We could've avoided this if Julie had just paid more attention," Sky muttered unimpressed. He was already embarrassed because they knew on screen, but now it was worse, he was sitting in the same room as those girls and he couldn't utter words because he was worried anything he said the girls would use against him.

"Well, I'm sorry I was paying more attention to the aftermath of the meeting," she pouted, unable to defend herself. Freya laughed, a short laugh failing to hide the amusement she grabbed Juliette's arm and laughed behind her friend's back.

"Dude, you got to admit the last half was way better," Freya watched Sky as he frowned not happy with where the conversation was leading to. "But seriously, who could've stolen our kiddo's heart?" She mentioned as if she didn't know.

"Can we not?" Sky gritted his teeth. "I don't want to talk about it," he put his hand down on the floor underneath him to prove his point. Juliette nodded and so did Freya before they moved on to the next topic, actually writing their planning down for Lucas.

"I'm getting the feeling Lucas did this because of someone else," Freya reported, completely ignoring what Sky said with a pencil behind her ear and Juliette's notebook in her hand.

"Well, whatever the case is he got in right?" Juliette sighed, "he's a part of the group and we can't exactly do anything about that," she claimed, taking her notebook from Freya.

The three of them tapped away on phones, and computers and wrote quickly in the notebooks they brought with them. Regardless of writing the notes down for Lucas, they certainly had to write them down for themselves as well, since neither of them is well at remembering things. "I'm just saying, what if he has no interest in working with us? Much less you!" Freya shouted raising her hands.

"Even so, the Theatre group will find a replacement, I highly doubt that he's going to bail out just like that," Juliette hoped that everything went smoothly for their play, since not only was it her first time, this was going to be her second-last time participating in a play before graduating high school.

She didn't want to make such a big deal out of it, but since she doesn't participate much in school events this was a biggie for her and she didn't want to ruin it.

"From far away, I wish I'd stayed with you

But, here face to face, a stranger that I once knew"

"Oh, by the way, I'm sleeping over, so you can't get rid of me," Freya cackled like a Disney villain.

"Had no plans on," Juliette clapped her hands before setting aside her notebook, which now was covered in scribbles and notes from today's planning.

"Hehe," she watched Sky before giving Juliette a look, urging her friend to start a more fulfilling conversation with the lovestruck fool.

"So, Sky, why'd you sign up? I mean, do you like theatre?" Juliette asked, she was partially curious as to see what the response would be since not many boys take a liking to the Aesthetics Department because of their gender and the prejudice society has against them.

"Well, at first I did it as a joke," he stated. "I didn't think I'd get it," Freya shuffled on the carpet. "But then after I did get it, I realized that I should take this more seriously."

"That was when he found me tagged on the email!" Freya replied with an enthusiastic smile on her face. "He was so shocked of getting in that he actually called me."

"What do you mean actually called you?" Juliette furrowed her eyebrows watching the two of them exchange looks.

"He, um," Freya was looking for words, she didn't want to make him look like a bad guy, but on the other hand, there wasn't much she could do. "He found a different group of friends towards the end of middle school," she mumbled, looking away from him.

"Oh, but now you guys talk right?" Juliette said watching both of their reactions.

"Do I have a choice?" Sky spoke sarcastically. "Nah, I'm kidding, I'm glad we're talking again," he smiled at his friend, even better he squeezed her hand in reassurance. "I've missed her so much over the years, but the guys just won't leave her alone if I end up talking to her again."

"God, for real?" Juliette leaned back onto her bed frame. "That's so frustrating," Freya nodded at Juliette's observation. "You've got some great friends."

"Trust me, after high school I'm done with those idiots," he crossed his arms in front of him and put them on his lap.

The three of them proceeded to talk about Sky's friends, and how absolutely immature and idiotic they are. Juliette brought everyone a glass of chocolate milk as they discussed more subjects, excluding the obvious ones in this case; Sky's crush, Lucas needing the notes, and the middle school embarrassing friendship of Freya and Sky.

Time passed slowly as another pair of footsteps found their way to Juliette's room as her door opened slightly. Carter peered through the space and she quickly looked up to find her charming brother smiling at the group, he bent down and spoke in a low tone. "Dinner's almost ready, if they're staying you might wanna let Mom know," he got up and ran his fingers through his hair before exiting the room.

"That's your brother?" Sky's jaw dropped. "Are you kidding me?" His eyes darted back and forth from Juliette and her door. "He fine as hell," Sky couldn't connect the dots, he looked at Juliette and the question himself. "But you're siblings..?"

Freya sighed in disappointment, rubbing her forehead. "Why would you say that?" She whispered to herself, instant secondhand regret and embarrassment from her friend. She leaned forward and rested her chin on her hand as Sky apologized.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way," his face spoke, the guilt in his eyes, although there was a hint of laughter, him saying sorry was more than enough for Juliette to let the whole sentence slide, which she normally won't do that easily.

"Say that one more time, and I'm going to bring up you-know-who," Juliette smirked, raising both her eyebrows deliberately. Sky groaned leaning into Freya, his ears now gleaming red from the sunlight splashing through her window.

The girls both continued to tease the lovestruck boy as he groaned and sighed, flustered and angrily before finally declaring a peace treaty with them. "Okay, okay, listen, I'll tell you..." the both of them looked at him. "But not today."

Freya slammed her hand down on the floor. "Oh come on Sky! That's not fair! I told you about him, it's only fair," she turned her head to Juliette and mouthed 'he will tell you, just wait a sec.' Juliette waited and nodded understanding Freya's words perfectly.

"If you're going to get anything out of me, you should know better," he straightened his t-shirt and stood up, immediately grabbing onto her table. "Low iron," he chuckled sheepishly, turning an even darker and prettier shade of red.

"Everyone! Dinner's ready!" Shouted her mother's lovely voice from downstairs.

"That's our queue!" Juliette got up as well and urged her friends to head downstairs with her and enjoy the delicious food her mother had prepared for today night.
