'Knock, knock.'
The sound of bone meeting wood echoed through the thick door of Theo's room, causing him to groan. A few seconds passed and he didn't answer and the knuckles of the unknown person once again disrupted his silence.
Theo got up from his bath, anger radiating off him as he grabbed a robe to cover up. He threw the door open, only to come face to face with a bewildered girl.
He met her terror-filled eyes, but his only response was to walk away. The girl slowly made her way inside and he sighed, annoyed.
"What do they want now?"
"G-Good morning, Alpha." Her voice trembled slightly. "Elder Martha would like a word with you at your earliest convenience—"
"You ever just want to be alone…," he paused, waiting for her to say her name.
"Astrid."
"Astrid. Do you ever want to be alone? To not have to think about anything and just have a few moments of peace by yourself?"
"I— Y-Yes," she answered.
