Chereads / The Rajak / Chapter 2 - Epilogue

Chapter 2 - Epilogue

The war had just begun between the two brothers of the kingdom of Raijnak over who would be the Rajak, which was the ruler of the kingdom and the commander of their army.

Raijnak was a powerful nation and it had a vast army that expanded the country by waging wars over other smaller, weaker countries, but in the last few years of the last Rajak, he wanted to rule in peace and so he stopped the wars. The late Rajak before his death chose the younger of his sons to be the next Rajak after his death and this act sent the elder brother into fury. He was angry and unsatisfied with his father's decision and so he went to confront the Rajak.

"Why do you choose my brother over me?" he asked the Rajak who was in his bed, sick. "I am older than he is and so rightfully I should be the next Rajak"

"You are unfit to rule, Kayon," the Rajak said, calling his son by his name.

"And you saw my brother fit?" Kayon asked.

"Yes. He has a place in his heart for the people and I want Raijnak to remain peaceful for the next years to come and you, Kayon would not make that possible."

"I wouldn't sit back and watch this happen," Kayon said angrily and left his father's chambers.

The Rajak watched as his son left and knew that he had lost him and although he wanted peace, an inevitable war was coming. "To have peace, a war must be fought," the Rajak thought.

Rayon's rage intensified after the Rajak gave his younger brother who was called Marek, his blessing. The Rajak died and was buried and as was the custom, the people had to mourn for fifty days before the new king would be crowned, but his older son's rage burned hot and a war began between the two brothers about the throne.
