Chapter 1 - I brought her flowers

I brought her flowers. It was the day when she finished college, something I knew that was really exciting for her. So I went to the flower shop and I bought her favorite flowers. Geraniums and Sunflowers.

I got into my car and I drove under the rain, making my way to her apartment building. The sound of the cars and the traffic outside was really stressing me but the music coming out of my car's speaker would calm me down. When I arrived to the building, I grabbed the flowers and I got out of my vehicle. I crossed the street and entered the building.

The receptionist let me in and I got into the elevator. I pressed number eight and that's how I arrived to the eighth floor of the building. In other words, I arrived to apartment 802.

With the flower bouquet on my hand and my phone about to fall of my pocket, I pressed the doorbell. Seconds later I heard footsteps getting closer. I got a little bit nervous but I shaked all of my nerves off. Then, the door opened and I saw her. I saw her standing there with that beautiful smile, that I loved with all my heart. I saw her standing there with those clear brown eyes I could stare at all the time. I saw her, the girl who is no longer with me.

She ran to me, pulling me into a hug and telling me how happy it made her to see me there. She giggled when she saw that I was about to drop all of my stuff so she helped me carrying some of it.

We got into her apartment and I gave her the flowers.

"For you" I remember I said. And I will never forget the smile she gave me when she saw them. I will never forget how red her face went and how she laughed when she saw her red face in the mirror. She put the flowers on the table, she walked towards me and she kissed my lips.

I don't know how much time that kiss lasted but it was amazing. We stayed in her apartment, telling each other everything that was going on in our lives, while we sat on the floor of her bedroom.

Time passed by and then night time arrived. The rain was still pouring on the streets but you couldn't hear the cars anymore. Out of nowhere she stood up, grabbed my hand and started running, pulling me out of her apartment. I remember how confused I was when she started running downstairs, but I just kept following her. I followed her without even knowing where we were going and what road we were taking but I didn't care either.

It was just the two of us and that was more than enough.

We ran down the stairs and some neighbores stopped and stared at us. And for once I didn't care about what other people were thinking about me and I just kept running. We got out of the building and ran through the rain until we arrived at my car. She got in the passenger sit and I sat next to her.

"What was that all about?" I asked her with a little laugh.

"I don't know but I just fucking finished college, I don't want to stay on my apartment."

"So where do you wanna go?" I asked while breathing really fast since we had just run down eight floors of stairs.

"No idea, just drive."

And so I did. We drove for hours without knowing where we were going. We sang our favorite songs at the top of our lungs. We laughed, we kissed, we danced under the rain, we walked past empty streets while holding hands.

I remember how she told me that she had missed those little moments. Those little moments we had lost because of college. Those little moments we were supposed to get back. That we wanted to get back. But the universe played against us and our wishes stayed that way, like wishes, and they never turned into reality.

We went back to her house in the middle of the night. We went to her room and we watched series until we fell asleep. Everything seemed perfect. No, it didn't "seemed perfect", it was perfect. We were together and no one was supposed to change that.

The next day we woke up much later than usual and the best part was that she was next to me.

And like that the days went by. We enjoyed every single little moment we had before she went on a trip to visit her family in her natal country. That trip that would end with so many things, including what we had.

Those days I stayed at her apartment. She lived all by herself just like I did so having her company for a few days felt amazing and it was something I will never forget.

I will never forget how we stayed everyday until two am watching cheesy romance movies that we bought on the little store near her house. I will never forget how every morning we talked about every little thing that came into our minds.

I will never forget those little moments. Those little moments that may seem insignificant to other people but they're everything to me.

And like that time went until the day that she had to go visit her family. The day that changed everything. The day that was suppose to be the start of one week without her, but thanks to that day, that week became a lifetime.

I helped her finish packing her stuff and getting everything ready. I took her to the airport and we went to grab a coffe while we waited for her flight to arrive. And exactly at 11.03, a voice in the speakers said "all passengers for flight BA8924 please go the boarding area." And I never imagined how those simple words could change so much.

I walked with her until we arrived at the place and before going in, she gave me a kiss.

"See you in a couple of days, I'll send you a message when I arrive."

I gave her one more kiss and she walked inside. I turned around and started walking out. I stopped to buy a juice on a store and then I drove to my apartment. I messaged to her for a while until she had to go because her flight was about to start.

"Love you!" That was the last text she sent me. Hours passed and I waited and waited for another message to arrive since she had told me she would write when her flight was over. I was overthinking the situations too much, so I sat on the couch and turned on the TV to distract myself.

I was passing through the channels, hoping to see something interesting on them. . And that's where I saw it.

On the news.

A plane had had an accident.

The plane she was into.

I couldn't take my eyes of the TV. Tears were falling down my eyes as I tried to call her even if deep down I knew no one was going to answer.

I don't know how much time I stayed there. Sitting in the sofa staring at the wall with tears streaming down my face. A little voice in my head was telling me that maybe she had survived, but when I got a message from her brother telling me that she hadn't, I just stayed there. Looking at the wall where I had all my pictures with her. Pictures from when we were little kids. Pictures from the day we graduated school, pictures of our first date, and pictures of our first day in college.

Time passed. I was once again, sitting in my car driving under the rain. Carrying flowers while driving under the rain.

And finally I arrived at the place.

"Sorry for your loss" They said. I nodded since I couldn't say anything without breaking down in tears. I walked to the place where she was. Sat on the floor next to her, with tears running through my face. And one more time, I brought her flowers.
