Chapter 19 - Ranking

He then asked the central system to provide him with more information about Continent B but the system told him that he would first have to buy a level 2 Guardian license to be able to unlock that kind of information, all he had the right to know was that Continent B was 100 times bigger than Continent A and that the two continents were separated by an impenetrable magical barrier.

Mika couldn't get any more information for the moment so he asked the central system to connect him to the Guardians' market.

He directly resold everything that he had won during his first dungeon raid, the 8 fangs were worth 80 silver coins, the 2 rabbit bodies were worth 10 silver coins and the 3 wild dog bodies were worth 60 silver coins.

He didn't think for long and he also sold the magic crystal of grade 1 he had won which was worth 200 gold coins, when he counted, this dungeon, which was a dungeon of the smallest level that existed, had still brought him the sum of 206 gold coins and 810 silver coins.

Very satisfied, he decided to look at what weapons were available for sale but he was quickly disappointed, all the weapons that were available were very simple, he had thought that as this world was full of magic and advanced technology, he would find weapons that would be out of the ordinary.

Disappointed, he still bought two daggers and two scimitars, his favorite weapons when there were no firearms available, which cost him a total of 200 gold coins and he hoped that the higher he leveled up, the more choice of weapons he would have.

He found the price of these weapons to be rather high but apparently they were forged expressly for the Guardians, their blades were stronger than ordinary weapons, and there was no need to maintain them, the blades never dulled or rusted, which was very convenient.

He had also decided to keep his axe and machete, it was better to have more weapons than not enough, and even if he would probably get rid of them once he could buy others that would suit him better, in the meantime they would do perfectly well.

Having finished doing what he wanted to do, he took out a sheet of paper and wrote his letter of resignation that he would give to his employer later on, he was really looking forward to being done with all his chores and he was eager to show Alanis what he was really capable of.

Now that he had his favorite weapons with him, these dungeons were going to be a real pleasure, he really wondered what kind of creatures he would meet this time and what the boss of the dungeon would look like, this new life really suited him perfectly.

It was everything he had ever dreamed of, a sexy, strong prince charming with a god body, a life full of adventure and above all no more responsibility weighing on his shoulders, the only responsibility he had was to make sure that Alanis got those 3 magic pills.

But he had to admit to himself that he hoped it would take him a long time to get to be a level 12 Guardian... A sudden thought crossed his mind and he asked the central system if he had entered the Guardians ranking and if so what his rank was?

It would give him a good indication of how many Guardians there might be in this world, and the central system as always gave him an immediate answer.

[Ranking: Guardian, Shadow Leader, level 0, 15,422/15,859

Achievement: 1/10 dungeons, 98/1,000 experience points, 50/50 gold coins]

Mika had always loved competition and this was the most exciting competition he had ever participated in.

He then checked what time it was and he still had an hour to kill before the lunch break, luckily for him the class he had this afternoon was sports and so the time would pass very quickly.

And so, he decided to contact Alanis and when he asked the central system to open the communication interface, he realized that there was only one name on his friend list and that 'Husband' could only be Alanis.

He was puzzled for a while by this name and wondered if Alanis was serious or if he was just teasing him, after all he had admitted to him himself that he couldn't put his print on anyone else, and that phoenixes usually only put it on the one they intended to spend the rest of their lives with.

Mika knew deep down that Alanis had done it to make sure he would succeed in becoming a level 12 Guardian but just the thought that he might have a husband gave him butterflies in his stomach.

He finally contacted him and wrote, 'Dear husband, I'm bored, I still have 1 hour before lunch break, will you come and eat with me?'

Alanis immediately replied, 'Of course my little Guardian, what do you want to eat?'

This system was really practical, all he had to do was think and his message would be written and sent to 'Husband', and so Alanis kept him company until it was time for lunch.

But the little bubble of happiness in which Mika had locked himself in by sending messages to Alanis, was soon shattered when just after the lunch break bell, his 'girlfriend' and his 'best friend' arrived and told him that they wanted to talk to him.

Mika laughed then, a sardonic laugh, and he said to them, "Look, spare me the details, okay? I wish you all the best and don't worry, I'm leaving school in two days at the latest, so if we could avoid talking until then that would be really nice."

Mika then showed them the door, saying he was done with them and they finally left, probably too stunned by his behavior to react otherwise, and that's when he heard Alanis' voice very close to his ear and he felt his warm breath on his skin which had the effect, despite himself, of speeding up his heartbeat, "My little Guardian, who were those two people, you don't look very happy."
