Chapter 7 - I Will Pick You Up

Lucy flew from her sleep. Rise from the bed. Open both hands widely. Stretching the muscles of the body that feel sore.

Lucy yawned. She blinked her eyes a few times. Smiled happily.

Sunlight infiltrated from the cracks in the windows. Breaking in from the thin curtain cloth. It's noon. I don't know what time it was.

Lucy reached for the phone on the nightstand. Scrolling through the screen of that flat object. The time inside the screen showed nine o'clock in the morning. Instantly, Lucy's eyes widened perfectly.

"Ah! I woke up late!" said Lucy. Rushed down from the top of the bed.

Lucy immediately went inside the bathroom to clean her face. She didn't clean up first. Quickly changed her clothes.

Lucy set off to work in a hurry. No breakfast. While waiting for the bus to arrive, Lucy contacted her superiors at the office.

"Ah, why not pick it up?" Lucy grumbled.

Soon, a black luxury car stopped directly in front of her. Lucy frowned. She didn't know whose vehicle it was.

The window glass of the car slowly fell. Lucy frowned even more. Curious about who was in that vehicle.

"Need a ride?"

Thump!

Lucy's eyes widened perfectly. The person who was behind the driver's seat was Kyle. Lucy felt confused as to why her brother was in front of her? Shouldn't the man work?

Kyle smiled. Lucy turned her eyes in the other direction.

"Buses won't come at this hour. You'll keep waiting until the break time comes?" asked Kyle.

Lucy felt annoyed. In fact, they are not in the same office. However, Kyle seemed to know very well how things were going in his office.

However, Lucy thought. Kyle's words did have some truth. She won't be able to get a bus at this hour.

"Come in before I change my mind," Kyle threatened with a sly smile.

Lucy seemed to be near a crocodile river. There is no other way to cross the river than to ride the ridge of the tame crocodile.

Lucy stomped her feet into the street. Then he got into the car with an annoyed look on her face. If it weren't for wanting to get to the office soon, Lucy would never want to be in the same car with Kyle.

Kyle also started driving his car. The road conditions are quite quiet. It's not as crowded as usual. So Kyle can run his cad at a faster speed than usual.

"How are you doing? Does your head still feel dizzy?" asked Kyle.

Lucy frowned. Then, shook her head. Lucy felt confused as to why Kyle asked that way. Lucy didn't feel drunk last night.

"You took a warm bath, right?" Kyle asked again.

Lucy turned her eyes out the window. She didn't answer Kyle's question because Lucy didn't clean herself up. It's okay, she will clean up herself in the office after the rest period comes.

Kyle, who didn't get an answer from Lucy, was silent again. Didn't ask much more.

Lucy tried to recall the events of last night. She didn't feel that he was drunk when she returned home. However, the memory of last night has not yet been in her head. All she remembered was just going home and meeting with Kyle, asking whether she was drunk or not.

Not long after, Kyle's cad was driving and finally arrived at the office where Lucy worked.

Lucy opened the car door, but Kyle blocked her wrist. Lucy gasped in shock. Almost her body was squeezed back into the car.

"Why?" asked Lucy in a scathing tone.

"I'll pick you up home," Kyle said with a sweet smile.

Lucy turned her eyes in any direction. Her cheeks were hot. She slammed Kyle's hand away, quickly leaving from the sight of her stepbrother.

Kyle drove his car again. Leaving Lucy's office.

Lucy wasn't focused on working. Time and time again, her head shook vigorously. In her head was only Kyle's face, smiling sweetly.

"Ah! How could he smile so sweetly at me? You," Lucy muttered irritably.

Lucy supported her chin with her palm. She didn't understand why Kyle's attitude had been so very much changed to sweetness.

Often seeing her stepbrother's face like that, Lucy's heart beats wildly. Lucy didn't understand. It wasn't a feeling of liking towards men. She remained steadfast to her stance as if Kyle was her stepbrother. There must be no feelings between siblings.

Lucy refocused her mind on the work that had accumulated on her workbench. Fortunately, her boss didn't scold her for being late for entering the office.

Of course. Everyone who had been involved in the meeting last night to the point of drunkenness walked into the office above eight o'clock in the morning. Lucy survived this time.

Kyle was watching the photo of Lucy that he kept inside his phone gallery. A portrait of Lucy when she was asleep. Kyle smiled sweetly. He likes that face of his half-sister so much.

The feeling that is now deeper and deeper makes Kyle convinced of his love. It doesn't matter if they are half-siblings. After all, there is no blood bond between them.

Lucy was still busy working on the dossier on her desk. One by one, the office friends have gone home. She has to finish some important files to be signed tomorrow morning by her superiors. So, it forced Lucy to return home late.

The time on the wall clock was already seven o'clock in the evening. Just when is he successfully completed the last dossier.

Lucy slammed her back on the back of the chair. Pulled her breath and exhaled it roughly.

"Ah, it's so tiring!" She shouted.

"You're done? I'm going home. If you're not done, I can't accompany you," said one of Lucy's officemates, who happened to be in overtime.

"Yes, I'm done." Lucy immediately got up from the chair. Then, fix the bags and work supplies.

Fortunately, there is still that one female friend of hers. Otherwise, maybe Lucy would be alone inside that spacious office. Creepy.

Lucy waved goodbye to her friend from different paths. Her friend turned right because his partner had picked her up. Lucy, meanwhile, had to head left—to the bus station.

Lucy walked smirkingly. Night buses are usually erratic when the hour arrives. She sat in the lounge of the terminal. Pursing the lips.

Lucy raised both arms up. Stretched her aching muscles.

Vroom!

Lucy frowned when a familiar black car in her sight stopped directly in front of her.

"You've been waiting for a long time? Sorry, I came back late because of a lot of work. Thankfully, you're still here," Kyle said.

Lucy looked around. It seemed already deserted. She felt indecisive. Whether she should come with Kyle or still wait until the bus arrives.

"The next bus will come at ten o'clock in the evening. I've checked the operational schedule," Kyle said as he showed the phone screen in his hand.

Lucy squinted. Looking at the background of the phone. She sighed. Her stepbrother was right. Clearly written inside the screen.

Lucy got into the car. The car was traveling at high speed due to the deserted roads.
