She grabbed onto the rope and carefully began to move horizontally, determined to reach the end.
The middle aged man who had moved first struggled to hold onto the rope.
His hands were sweating and he could feel them slipping off.
"No... no, I can't die like this. Heavens, please help me." He pleaded in his heart, but as unfortunate as he was, he saw his death staring him dead in the eyes.
He tightly bit his lips and resolved to reach the end, however his sweaty and tired hands which didn't seem to agree with him, slipped off in the next moment, causing him to fall off directly in and stabbed mercilessly by four of the spikes.
"Ahhh!!!" The others screamed in horror, and Layah quickly shut her eyes.
Her heart thumped wildly within her and she took deep breaths to calm herself down.
'I can do it.' She said it in her heart, and with newfound courage regenerating in her, she gripped the rope even tighter and began to move forward, doing her best to ignore the agonizing cries of those falling off behind her.
She moved steadily, and in no time, she made it to the end.
A deep breath of relief exited her nose and she stood still tpo pull herself together.
Mishak, who was about to move into the next level, turned around and smiled at her as though really proud of her.
"Will be waiting for you at the end." He said to her, and Layah nodded with a smile on her face.
She shifted her gaze to Damien, and Damien motioned for her to move onto the next challenge.
"Be careful." He lip synced to her and Layah nodded, then moved onto the next challenge, which was simply having to walk on a very thin block without faling off.
Falling off spelled death as there, as usual, were dangerous weapons on either side of the thin horizontal block.
This is to deal with their balance specifically.
If one does not have enough balance, it's already been decided that making it past that level was impossible.
Layah halted and fixed her gaze on the thin block.
She has already made it this far and failing will be pathetic.
She's honestly afraid to proceed, but can't go back either.
Although she knows she has balance, she really can't trust them at this point as this is a matter of life and death.
She turned to Damien, and Damien nodded his head at her, indirectly telling her that he believed she would be able to do it.
A half smile emerged on her face, and having raised her courage, she refocused her attention on the thin block.
She glanced at her shoe and quickly bent down to tighten its laces in order to avoid any mishaps.
Once she was done, she shook her head, and with a deep breath escaping her mouth, she moved towards the block and climbed up.
She slowly landed on both feet and quickly dangled from left to right, which finally helped her hold her balance.
She stayed still and once her breathing became stable, she carefully began to move with her eyes fixed on Mishak and Aliya, who were a bit ahead of her on the same block.
The three moved cautiously, and the first to arrive at the end of it was Mishak. He quickly jumped off and turned to wait for Layah.
Aliya, who was a bit afraid of heights, bit her lower lip, clearly scared of falling off.
Cold sweat dripped from her forehead and before she could move another step, her right feet slipped off, almost causing her to fall, if not for Layah's gripping her hand and pulling her back.
Her heart beat rapidly in fear and she breathed heavily, having seen her life flash before her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Diana asked and she swalloed hard before slowly nodding her head.
"I don't think I can do this. She shook her head with tears already welling up in her eyes and quite surprised by the thought of Aliya being this emotional, Diana's brow arched.
"What's going on? Are you scared of heights?" She asked and Aliya slightly nodded her head with a bit of reluctance on her face.
"Yes... I've always been since I was a kid." She replied, and Layah gripped her hand even tighter.
"I see. Well then, I will hold onto your hand, and we will cooperate together, alright. This way, we will reach the end without any of us dying."
She said to her and, stunned by her words, Aliya gazed at her in disbelief.
"You're willing to help me, despite the fact that I was horrible to you?" She asked, and Layah smiled.
"Dont worry, I didnt take it that way." She clarified, and a gentle smile formed on Aliya's face.
"Let's do this." She held her hand tightly and, together, they began to move in perfect synchronization, leaving Dorian, who was watching, to scrunch his brows in confusion.
"What... are they doing? They could die with such carelessness." He said and Damien, who had no clue as well, gazed intently at them.
Layah and Aliya continued, and fortunately for them, they made it to the end without any of them dying.
Now before them was the last and ultimate challenge, which if they passed, would get them a nice room and good food, just like promised.
"I doubt this will be easy." Mishak said and Aliya noddded in agreement.
"Definitely not. This is the last challenge which will prove our worth, so there is no way they will make this easy. It's not like the other levels were easy." She explained, and Layah sighed.
"We have already made it this far. We musn't lose, no matter what."
She said, and a bit surprised by her words, Aliya turned to look at her.
"Quite surprising to hear that coming from you." A short laugh escaped her mouth, and Layah turned to look at her with a glare on her face.
