"See, I am a warrior and I go to the battlefield. We have continuously fought with the Tecren empire, so it's more than natural that he recognized me," he explained, and Layah gazed intently at him. "Who?"
"The Death General." With hate in his eyes, he said the name, and confused as to who owned such a name, Layah arched her brow at him. "Who is the Death General?" she asked, and a deep breath exited his nose.
"Him, the one with the golden colored eyes. The name "Death General" was given to him by the people because of his cruelty. During the last battle we had with the Tecren empire, the people came to confirm that he was more than just a human. He was much more," he said, a distant glint in his eyes.
"I don't understand. Could you be more specific?" Layah obliged, and he slightly nodded at her.
"Before we went to that battle, we had gotten news that the Tecren empire was at war with another empire, so His Majesty believed that it was our best chance to strike, as they must be vulnerable at that time. I was in command then and had led the soldiers into battle to returned with victory, but... it was not at all what we expected."
"We were more than happy when we heard that they had sent thousands of their strongest soldiers to battle with the Nieviel empire and had sent only three hundred soldiers to battle with us, but what we were met with was hell."
"We had indeed slaughtered the hundreds of soldiers as they couldn't win against thousands of us, but the shocking part about this was that he single-handedly began to kill every one of us before our eyes. It was like a dream where impossible things could happen. Everything about him was just so fast that even before we could strike, he had already killed at least two soldiers."
"I was in complete shock. I simply waited for my death, but contrary to my expectation, he killed the ten thousand soldiers, leaving only me alive to return and tell his majesty just how pathetic our soldiers are."
"That's... that's impossible." Layah remarked in disbelief, but Mishak shook his head at her. "It sounds impossible, but I witnessed it with my own eyes, so its not impossible. I will never forget the stare he gave me before he turned around and left. I felt my soul burn under his gaze, and that was why I was scared to death to once again meet that gaze," he shivered as he explained, and Layah blinked furiously.
"Why is he called the Death General?" She asked, and Mishak turned his head to look at her. "Because when he kills, he smells of death. Dark mists lingers around him. I witnessed it with my own eyes that day. Everywhere was eerie and dark. I had thought I had heard the cries of the dead." He shuddered as he clarified and, finding this so unbelievable, Layah shook her head in skepticism.
"Layah, you must stay away from him as much as you can. He is a very cruel, merciless, and deadly person. Even though he fights for the Tecren Empire, the people appreciates and fears him at the same time. Apart from the emperor, the crown prince, and a few of the soldiers he considers brothers, no one, I mean no one, dares to speak to him. " He continued and, getting very intimidated by now, a long deep breath exited Layah's nose.
She shut her eyes and calmed herself down. "Is he a citizen of the Tecren empire? How come I never heard of such a strong person born in the empire?" she asked, and Mishak nodded his head at her. "He is a Tecren citizen, but I have heard of a rumor which says he was not born in the Tecren empire nor was he from there either. The rumor says he appeared eight years ago and since then, the Tecren empire has been undefeatable."
"So princess, you mustn't do anything to provoke him. He has no mercy at all and will kill you in the blink of an eye. Therefore, you must avoid him as much as you can, understand?" He said to her and Layah nodded in understanding. "I will," she replied and clutched her aching arm.
...
Damien, who had heard all their conversation because of his extremely sharp hearing, dangerously narrowed his eyes and a cruel smirk formed on his face. 'They haven't seen how cruel I can be, yet they are afraid of me.' He thought this in amusement in his mind and took off the gloves he was wearing.
He rested his head back and shut his eyes, then began to count the days it would take them to make it back to the empire. It probably wouldn't take more than three days.
_______
Two days had passed since their journey began, and currently, they were almost at the city gate of the huge Tecren empire.
At the back of the carriage, looking quite weak, Layah clutched her aching arm, which had yet to be treated, and laid her head on Mishak's shoulder.
"Are you okay, princess?" Mishak inquired in deep concern, and she nodded her head. "Yes, but my arm hurts really badly." She complained with pain in her voice, and Mishak patted her on the head. "Don't worry, I will find you help. Just endure it for a little bit more, okay?" he comforted her and she nodded.
