Panting heavily and with numerous large claw marks all over his body, he held a large machete in his hand as his back was to the canyon. What laid in front of him were several large lions inching closer and closer towards him. With each inch they are just that closer into tearing him apart. He was only lucky he has survived this long with only a machete against a group of lions.
Swinging the large machete from side to side he yelled, " Get back. Get away!"
Blood was moderately dripping from his wounds that began to tire him out, bringing him closer to exhaustion and then soon death. It was when he was out hunting for large game out in the plain fields with a group of friends. However, they had ran into a group of lions who for some reason were really angry and aggressive, killing all of them and now he was all that was left of the group.
From the start things were still manageable as he had his gun but he had to sacrifice the gun so that he could survive and get away, but now he had no way out.
The man's name was Ben Frank and was a veteran hunter and survival specialist. He was starting to go past his prime so he wanted to hunt big game for his last time with his group of hunter friends, but little did he know that he would end up in a situation like this.
Quickly glancing behind him, he knew that it would be almost impossible to survive the canyon fall, " I must at least take one down with me."
With the resolve to die, Ben strengthened his grip on the handle of the machete as he waited for the first lion to lunged at him. And soon enough, the largest lion of the group lunged at him, but Ben was already prepared. He lowered his stance with the machete in front of him, he thrusted forward and took a step in while trying his best to dodged the mouth and claws that were coming at him. Once he pierced the underbelly of the lion, he hugged it tightly and leaned backwards and down to the canyon.
Trying his best to turn his body on the way down, he managed to successfully move the lion's body towards the ground as he tucked his body to the best of his ability in order to try his best to survive but the dying struggles of the lion caused him some problems. This was the best possible solution that he could come up with. With his back against the canyon, several lions angry and hungry, and a tired body, what more could he possibly do in the situation.
He closed his eyes as the lion still tried to gnaw at him and tear him apart, a few seconds later, 'bang' the man and the lion hit the ground with a tremendous force separating the two and then caused them to tumble down.
Tumbling downwards at a rapid speed, he tried to grab on to any weeds or any large stable rocks but it didn't even help him slow down as he was picking up speed by the second and injuring his body even more while draining and breaking his strength. At what seemed to be just minutes of tumbling and getting injured, he finally came to a stop as he had finally his flat land. However, he could no longer move and could only see the stream that laid a distance away.
" Is this how my life is going to end? 'sigh' I should've stopped this lifestyle sooner and gotten married and have a stable life. But then again, what an exciting and adventurous life I have lived, even if I have no descendants, it was a full life." With this last thought in mind, Ben Frank's life has come to an end. At least, that's what he thought.
-----------
?? " Wake up!"
Screaming awake, Ben Frank quickly sat up and breathed heavily. He began touching all over his body and saw that he his clothes were in rags and all of his limbs and body were fine and he was not hurt at all.
" What happened?! Was that all just a dream? No, it can't be this is the same clothes that I wore on the hunt."
A mysterious voice then resounded deep into his mind, " You are finally awake."
" Who's there?! What's happening?! Are you the one that saved me?"
" Yes... and no. Well you can say that I have been watching you from afar and I like the way you lived. There were others before you, but most of them failed, so I decided to give up and you will be the last one I send here. Like the others I will grant you something to help you in this new life. Survive, and grow, I want to see what kind of life you live again."
Trying his best to digest what had just been said to him, a screen appeared before his eyes.
Name: Ben Frank
Age: 25
Skill: Survival specialist (lvl. max), Devour (lvl. Max)
" Survival specialist? Devour? What does this mean. Age 25? I was 40 years old when I had just died. This screen almost likes those role playing games where they get a status screen and show their attributes, but this just shows my age and skill. I also only have two skills that are maxed out."
Laying back down, " Well, what does these skills do."
After this thought went through his mind, two screens appeared,
'Survival specialist: Since the host has been a veteran hunter and survivalist in his past life, your skills will be brought forward and enhanced. You will gain knowledge of all plant life and animal life you see. At least those of which that have already been recorded.'
' Devour: The host will become immune to all types of diseases/poison that the host consumes. Furthermore, the host will gain the ability go inherit the abilities that some of the species that you consume and use it as your own strength.'
" Woah, woah, woah!!! This is simply amazing. Animals have gone through eons of evolution of survival of the fittest and now I get to have a taste of that? Hahahaha" Ben Frank laughed loudly as he thanked 'god' or whoever that gave him this ability. With this, he can do so much more then what is humanly possible. He can become a true apex predator.
After some time of gathering himself together again, he touched all over his body and hoped that he didn't have to start from scratch. He found nothing but he then looked a few inches in front him and smiled, it was his machete that looked brand new and sharper than it has ever been. He didn't even need to touch the blade to know how sharp it is.
But then he thought to himself, he got a blade and skills but what could that mysterious person has meant by most of the others have failed. How could they fail, when they could get God-given skills like these.
He then looked around himself and saw that he was in a wide open field of grass. As he looked beyond this, he saw huge and robust trees. Larger and more numerous than he has ever experienced, and in his life of adventures, he has basically been to the most harshest place that earth has to offer, accept for of course the deep sea where no man has ever conquered.
He took a deep breath in and a thought had occurred to him, this air... the oxygen feels a lot more purer than he has ever experienced. He looked up and felt the raging heat from the sun. It was also a lot warmer too. He could tell the air quality and temperature because he has been inside deep wilderness where machines' pollution seems to have no affect and the plants were in constant photosynthesis that made the air pure.
He felt the ground tremble slowly as even gravels and small rocks seems to be moved as it bounces up and down. However, it seems to tremble at what seems to be like foot-steps. Wait a minute... steps? He saw a gigantic animal with a long neck and rough skin come out from the forest. It was still a bit far but he could clearly make the shape and outlook of the animal. Giraffe? He rubbed his eyes making sure he wasn't seeing things. No, he was sure that he knows what a giraffe look like. It did not look anything like this. He was sure of what a giraffe looks like. If his guess was correct, a name soon popped up in his mind, Brachiosaurus or in layman terms, a long neck dinosaur.
What he saw made him realize and remember what the mysterious being meant when he said that most have failed to survive. This was the Jurassic Era, where giant reptiles/animals have ruled the land. Because of the high level and density of oxygen, it was possible to sustain these animals to become larger and strong.
He laughed as he had finally digested the information that was given to him and stood up as he looked towards the sky and opened up his arms while taking a deep breath in, exhaled and said smiled with excitement, " I can't wait."
