Sitting on the sofa, Aunt Lin gave me a hot choco with marshmallow on top. I was covered with hand made linen that she made earlier.
She thinks that I was so shocked of the incident. What she doesn't know is that I had my attacks. "Are you ok dear? Is something bothering you? I know that it was shocking but my dear Louis would never harm you." she said as she comforts me.
"It's not that Aunt Lin."
"What is it?"
"I just forgot to drink my medication on time."
Aunt Lin chuckled and grabbed one of her medication. "See this my child? This is my vitamins for my muscles and bones. If I happened to forget to drink this, I feel so weak. Here"
She gave me her medication, I read it and saw that it was about to expired, good thing that it has few tablets left before the expiration.
"Is it ok for me to look at yours?"
"Sure!"
I gave her my medication and as she observes it, she noticed something. "My! Oh my! I haven't encountered such drug. This looks like new!"
"What do you mean?" I curiously asked.
"I have friends and we meet every first day of the month. You know, a little talk about ourselves. Most of our talk were about medications and our health. Old people am I right?" She chuckles
"…each of us have different experiences and different drugs and there are some cases of same drugs such as that vitamin you are holding. We even tackle about our families and I never heard about this drug that you have. You said that it is for the heart?"
"Yes!"
"I know my friend Marge, having her daughter with heart disease, I forgot what was it but she may know something about your drugs. I'm guessing that you're drug may have complication when not taken on time."
"I'm no expert Aunt Lin but my Doctor didn't say anything! I was so obedient in taking those drugs."
"I understand such eagerness, I too sometimes like that but you should know the drugs' indication and side effects in your body."
"Will do"
"Oh! before I forgot, Clyde! I happened to watch some sort of TV series. There's this one girl who doesn't have any special power but her friends have one. Later on her friends confessed about them and she reacted depressingly.
In my opinion, I think that this young lady should not compromise their friendship but in the series she just left her friends. What do you think of that plot?"
"I-uhmm…" To think that her friends have superpower, I understand her side however considering how childish it is, I don't think…
Suddenly my head was spinning again, I can feel it throbbing and I can hear a high pitchy sound. I felt my eyes were drooping and I can't feel my surroundings.
I just took my medication, why am I feeling this?
"Clyde?"
"Clyde?"
The voice of Aunt Lin was fading. I feel my heavy body just dropped. I can't fight this any longer, my breathing was getting slower and slower.
When everything calms down, I woke up to a dark place with watery floor and my reflection was visible. Is this some sort of trance?
I shouted for help but it seemed to be no response. Few more shout and I heard a murmur. I ran to that sound and it's getting clearer and clearer despite of darkness that hovers the place.
The voices were like a memory of my past. I hear my laugh, Carl's and Louis giggle. I also here some arguments and some sobbing. It was mixed of different memories.
Is this mine?
"Yes and no"
The voice said, it was an eerie voice that cannot be compared to any horror movies that I watched. It sounded like a thunder but it feels so light as well. This voice seemed to read my inner thoughts.
"Who are you? "
"I am you"
"What?"
"I am you but not you"
"I'm so confused, are you somehow my subconscious? Like my inner me?"
"I am you and not your subconscious"
"Uhmm… I can't comprehend what you mean so can you at least show yourself?" I asked humbly to avoid unnecessary argument with this thing.
"I'm already here"
I look around and saw nothing, then I noticed something odd in my peripheral view. The water from the floor, it seemed like distorted.
I looked down and saw that my reflection was smiling with his eyes full of evil. From the looks of it, I'm having a bad feeling about this.
"Are you to whom I'm talking to?"
I did not see my mouth moved from the reflection but it stayed there grinning.
"Fascinating" I bend down and touched the water, the reflection distorted and a mirror appeared to me. It was the same size as me but the frame and the mirror itself is made out of water.
"Who are you? and what are you doing here?"
"I told you, I am you but not you"
"What do you mean?"
Then my reflection from the mirror turned to memories, memories of the past. Every second it changes and different atmosphere it portraits. Red, blue, yellow, white, green, gray.
It changes like a TV but faster, few minutes later I saw a memory of a recent past. It was me and Carl at the roof, the atmosphere there was all gray and blue. It is the only atmosphere with more than 1 color.
"Clyde , I'm sorry but I can't be friends with a jerk like Louis"
"What do you mean? 10 years ago, we were fine. What's with the sudden change?"
"THAT WAS 10 YEARS AGO!"
"I KNOW! CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME!"
"I can't " a sudden fall voice of Carl as he looks away. He was deeply distress and clearly avoiding my question.
"What do you mean you can't?"
"You were gone for 10 years and a lot of things change…
Louis and I changed."
"But you still are my best pals, you know we can resolved everything as long as we worked together, right?"
I tried to console him but he moved away from me. "What's wrong? Is there something you haven't told me yet?"
"Even if I tell you, you won't be able to understand."
"Then let me process it till I understand."
This memory is exactly the same but what makes me wanting to hear from this memory is the part where I can't recall.
Carl stood up and could not take it anymore. He moved his lips and utters but I can't even hear it well.
After that, rain started to fall like cats and dogs, thunder and rumbling across the town. Carl ran away from me.
I still can't recall that memory despite of this trance state.
"Can't remember?" my reflection asked cunningly
"Here's another" he showed me the me in the child phase. I was playing with Carl and Louis but the rest of that memory was a blur. The atmosphere was Yellow and Blue then turned to gray.
Another memory showed up when I was at a hospital, I saw myself in a bed and the flickering lights, the doctor with a mask and other medical team. What happened next was another blur but the atmosphere there was gray.
He showed me some other memories with blur vision and I can't remember or recall some of those. It feels like something wrong with my brain.
"Can't see? Can't recall? That's your fault! Oh! don't think of it due to age that you tend to forget those things, blame yourself because of it. This memories of yours seemed to be corrupted? NO! THOSE MEMORIES ARE MY MEMORIES!"
Suddenly head hurts like crazy again, I don't feel like I'm me. Does this me know something that I do not know of?
I kneeled on the wet floor, holding my head because I can't grasped those things that he said. It's true I can't recall those things but I wonder is it for good or for nothing?
Suddenly, I feel that I'm being sucked in from my guts. I feel like I'm about to burst in like a blackhole sucking my insides. It feels nasty.
"oh! it's time already?" he said.
I saw him from a mirror that there was a cube like structure floating next to him. It changes color just like in the memories that I saw. Could it be? Those are my memories?
"Oh! you noticed this thing, don't worry I can take care of this thing. After all you and I are one but not the same." He said as he walked away from the mirror dragging the levitating cube.
"See you not long, and by the way don't drink those pills again. If you want to know more" he said and laughed away.
I sunk to the bottom and I can't breathe. I tried to breathe in and I suddenly woke up from the chair where I was sitting before everything happened. I was grasping for air as if I was out of breathe like drowning. Aunt Lin looked so terrified, "what happened? How are you feeling?"
She asked me worriedly, I looked at the clock and saw that it was 2AM in the morning. "How long was I out?" I asked curiously.
"For about 2 mins. You scared me to death"
"I'm sorry Aunt Lin, I was probably tired"
"I understand, there's a room available, for now you can stay there and leave tomorrow after noon or whenever you're ready ok?"
"Thank you Aunt Lin" she left and went to her room to sleep. She was so worried about me that she haven't sleep early.
What just happened? The things that I saw, it feels so real. Could it be? There's more than the things that I already know?
The more I think about it the more I'm getting curious of what happened 10 years ago. He said about being there from my memories of the past to the recent pasts.
If that thing is true, who am I? or who is that thing that I saw? There are a lot of questions running to my head.
I looked from the side and saw my medication, I was having doubts and questions about it.
